gzt: Are the testing stations 100% RAT only now or is there an option for PCR?
We were just given a PCR test.
Ge0rge: My wife's RAT produced a positive indication within seconds of applying the solution to the cassette.
Despite having significant symptoms, a RAT for me was negative when done correctly up the nose. I did a second one minutes later and swabbed the back of my throat instead, and that brought up the positive result.
Good on you for trying the throat as well. My daughter was negative both ways, we are expecting her PCR to be negative, though her symptoms are worse today so who knows!?

Be very interested to know what the re-infection rate is.
As we know there is always going to be under reporting so:
I know this won't apply to forum members because we are all nerds-tech savvy socially responsible people but please get the word out that ALL at home positive tests (RATS) MUST be reported to MoH.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Is there a case to argue for reporting negative RATs? I do one three times a week so I should (hopefully) know early if I get it but am asymptomatic. I do not want to be an infection source for our team or clients, or family of course. No negative tests have been logged in the app.
Came back from a brief AU trip on Saturday and got a bit nervous when called to go back to the pre-flight testing centre at the airport due to an invalid test result. I was concerned that 'invalid result' might be code for 'it looks positive but we want to be certain before saying you cannot fly'. The second test was negative, much to my relief.
I remain astonished that I've not picked it up yet via school kids, but until yesterday none of my close family has been confirmed with a case. My 7 year old niece was confirmed yesterday. My sister works with my father who I normally see daily, so this morning's visit was distanced and outdoors!

Funny, I was thinking the same thing about the percentage risk our family is at and haven't had it as yet. That may all change in 24 hours who knows!
Both my kids wear masks at school pretty much full time except when eating, I suspect that is a key factor. My son in particular gets a hard time for it, I am proud of him for sticking to his convictions about it. In fact we all wear masks most places.
Covid has infiltrated my child's daycare. Unsure whether he should still go or not given it is strongly implied to have been a staff member, who was in the youngest rooms at the facility. It costs a lot to have him enrolled and not be able to send him and I fear that this is a real disincentive to keep sick kids home - which we've spent the last week doing because he had a cough and we wanted to play it safe.
My advice is to take whatever precautions you reasonably can.
We have just been told my daughter's result will be back in 72 hours (not within).
So, whatever we have in the house, apparently according to the PCR test yesterday which was turned around nice and quick despite the strikes, it's not Covid19!
It doesn't help that there are a lot of things going around this time of year that produce similar symptoms.

Yup. It's annoying, plus we suffer Asthma and Hayfever as well :)
Our kids are amongst the most tested in the country I suspect.
Friday-Mon was basically the worst fever I have ever had over and over.
Able to be a bit upwardly mobile today, but still pretty crook.
Triple jabbed, so would hate to think how I would've ended up otherwise.

He's away from daycare tomorrow and hopefully we have some clarity on the situation by Thursday.
They had 18 no-shows today, some out of anxiety like us, but also some now isolating and others who have symptoms.
Even more concerning; the centre is not actually obliged to tell us they have cases there at all but thankfully they are being pretty open with us and keeping us in the loop about things like how the opening hours may be effected in advance.
Mum and her partner both have it now. She's just turned 75 and but seems to be doing ok so fingers crossed.
