Thanks, they seem relatively fine and use supermarket deliveries etc. It’s Mums birthday today though, which is a bit shitty.

As hard as I tried to avoid it after my wife tested positive 3 days after my daughter. I three days after my wife I now have the cough and sore throat and haven’t RAT tested yet but am sure I have it. Bugger.

Oldmanakbar: I finally got it on Friday. Housemate had it for week prior before I came down with symptoms. Friday-Mon was basically the worst fever I have ever had over and over. Able to be a bit upwardly mobile today, but still pretty crook. Triple jabbed, so would hate to think how I would've ended up otherwise.

It's amazing how differently it affects people.

My parents (both in the 80's) got it a couple of weeks ago - dad came through with mild symptoms, while mum was absolutely hammered by it - bed ridden for a few days and with both flu and gastric symptoms.

My son (17) got it and was only symptomatic for a day or so, then back to full health.

@Oldmanakbar Hope you recover quickly from here...sounds like you've had it rough.

i was like you. only left the house to go get groceries, wore a n95 mask when i left the house and had the 3 vaccines , still got it i dont know where and i can see people saying whats the point of doing everything possible to not get it and i still get it, so why should i bother.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

i was like you. only left the house to go get groceries, wore a n95 mask when i left the house and had the 3 vaccines , still got it i dont know where and i can see people saying whats the point of doing everything possible to not get it and i still get it, so why should i bother.

I understand that feeling. I've so far not got it, despite not being the strictest of mask wearers, and despite having a couple of our kids in the house catching it.

But your experience and mine are anecdotes. We simply don't have enough information to be fully informed and that is totally unacceptable to me. After all the loss of the last two years, and the years of cost that are ahead of this following COVID and its management, we should be doing better on understanding these things.

Partner now has symptoms but blown through three boxes of negative RATS, so getting a PCR test.

If she doesn't have COVID then she's got something pretty bad that seems a lot like it.

Time to do a big shop of frozen food, ready meals and comfort carbs if we both go down with it.

Also, an update on the daycare situation: they now have a gastro bug.

Day three of my partners positivity and I am still negative. (reported) I forgot to mention that I have had 3 shots plus the booster and my partner has had 2 shots plus the booster.

Just rang our nearby relative today to do some shopping. Tissues and ice cream. My partner is going through tissues approx 1½ large Kleenex Aloe Vera & Vitamin E Facial tissues per 24 hours. He still has sore throat and headaches with now sore chest muscles due to sneezing and coughing. So lots of paracetamol and 8hrly ibuprofen for the muscles. He doesn't like throat easement med's, hence the ice cream 😀.

Next test Saturday.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

There is something very similar running around, as my daughter is PCR negative but has many of the same symptoms.

Was also confirmed there is a fairly large cluster of influenza A in Dunedin

Tripple figure students at home off sick. (At one school)

Perhaps if the last 2+yrs of drumming in hygiene (outside controlled classroom) wasnt kicked to kerb so fast?. We'll never know now.

Got my FJ 2 weeks ago. Nowhere near as bad an arm as previously. It's like all the covid jabs was good practice.

My story...

Traveled overseas (family of three) to see in laws that we haven't seen for a long time now (pre-pandemic were going every year).

I started getting mild symptoms about three days after arrival. Was about 6 days after arrival that I noticed less respiratory capacity, and did a RAT test on myself. Came back a super strong positive.

Could have been either infected in my last couple of days in NZ, during travel, or the first day or so in Manila. No way to tell, but I passed my pre-depature test.

Dispute our best effort's it cut through the entire household of 7. (over the course of a couple of weeks).

Thankfully pretty mild amounts all the adults (some of which are senior and have co-moralities). Adults had a mix of vaccines two with 3x Pfizer, two with 2x sinovac + 1x moderna, two with 2x AZ + 1x moderna. Child (to young to be vaccinated) was very hot (39.5C underarm), but basically recovered in 24 hours.

My symptoms were: Sore throat, mild cough, noticeable loss in respiratory capacity (struggling for air after walking up two flights of stairs).

Needed to change our flights coming home. Were booked on Singapore, but they had nothing available to change two in the two weeks after we were picking to recover.

Ultimately paid $4500 for one way manila to Auckland ticked for three people. (have a $2500 refund coming in about 5 weeks time from Singapore, who thankfully waive cancellation fees if you can't fly due to covid-19.

Everybody is all recovered now, and we are back in NZ now. Child is sick with something else at the moment.

Note that people didn't through positive RAT test's, until a couple of days after they got symptoms.

Must get the F J done. Wife just got it, and was feeling crap that night and following day. I wonder if that is a common reaction?

My partner tested negative on Saturday (14th) morning, then had a crap night last night (Sunday 15th) with all the classical symptoms.

He tested positive 📈 this morning (Monday 16th). I am still negative.

More books and movies. We stopped baking as not good for us ☹️.

I would start the Paxlovid now, before the symptoms possibly get bad, that's what its designed to do.

I'm pretty sure you won't get them past day 5 post infection.
