Went to get my booster today that I'd booked months ago at the local 7 Day Chemist. 7 Day Chemist #1 said that they don't do Covid shots on Monday, and I must have them confused with 7 Day Chemist #2 at more or less the same location (it's in/around a mall). Go to 7 Day Chemist #2 who say they don't do Covid shots on Monday either, its the guy's day off. They check the text and say it's definitely 7 Day Chemist #1 and not them. Go back to 7 Day Chemist #1 and show them the text saying it's them, and they can't understand how the system could have booked me for a Monday because they don't do Covid shots then.

So I've now got a walk-in some time later this week and they'll sort it out then. It's a good thing the people at the front lines are able to duct-tape things together to make them work because the MoH sure can't.

Edited to add: They sent me multiple texts and emails to remind me that my shot was today at a location where I can't get a Covid shot today, the last one being this morning, so it's not that I missed a notification at some point that the booking had changed.

I'm fully negative as of last night. Still got a somewhat blocked nose however and my sense of taste is all screwy. However one of my colleagues tells me my sense of taste/smell etc should fully return in a few weeks. I hope he's right.

My wife is only just getting her sense of taste back now ~day 21. She completely went off the things that she enjoys (coffee, chocolate, wine etc….). For two weeks food was nothing more than a source of energy as she couldn’t enjoy it. I could have served her 2 minute noodle 3 times a day for a week and she wouldn’t have complained.

Got back from a trip to Denmark late last month.
No one (and I mean no one) wore masks there.
Not even the staff (incl. police/passport control) in the airport.
Same in Germany as well.

On the Air NZ plane to Seoul, some people wore mask. Some didn’t. The crew didn’t care.
Same on the Lufthansa flight from Seoul to Frankfurt.
But on the short haul Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Copenhagen, they were rather strict.

On the way back, Singapore Airlines were pretty strict and nearly everyone in Singapore Changi airport also wore masks.
One of my colleagues went to the USA (California, Texas, NY, Pennsylvania and Washington DC). Saw no masks anywhere.

On the same lines as others have already reported, friend was in Queenstown last week and no-one was wearing masks. Shops had signs up saying no mask/no entry but everyone was ignoring them. Bars and restaurants were crowded with maskless people, apparently Covid had packed up and left. As he put it, "you may be over Covid but Covid isn't over you".

Someone I know here in Wellington has just got it for the second time, so no, it's definitely not over us...

What were their symptoms like the 2nd time around compared to the first? We’re they milder the 2nd time?

Received a letter in the post yesterday stating that the AstraZeneca vaccine will no longer be available in New Zealand after the 4th September 2022. Now the two options will be Pfizer and Novavax.

Household contact at my place. First symptoms/positive test Monday afternoon/evening. She was just saying on Saturday how she had been to KFC last week and no-one was wearing a mask.

No one else tested positive on Day 3 and so far no one else with symptoms. Isolation going fine, ordered groceries from Countdown without any problems.

We returned from Germany two days ago. As you say, masks are not common there but are mandatory on public transport and 99% of people comply. Same in Austria.

Flying with Emirates, masks were mandatory and most, but not all, passengers wore them.

OK. I didn’t catch public transport in Germany, but several times in Denmark (both in Copenhagen and Odense). Zero masks and wasn’t mandatory either.

We caught trams a lot in Vienna. First time, I had forgotten to take a mask and after we got on a fairly crowded tram, I was embarrassed to find that I was the only person without one. I was trying to use my baseball cap as an improvised mask and a lovely Viennese lady took pity and offered me a KN95 which I gratefully accepted.

Update: Household contact is feeling a bit better, but she is still testing positive after one week and still has some symptoms. She also appears to have lost her sense of taste. Ordered groceries from Countdown a second time, ticked the "allow substitutes" option and ended up with a Big Ben pie, so won't be doing that again. No one else in the household tested positive on day seven, so our week of isolation appears to be over.

A Big Ben pie instead of what?
