With due consideration to those who, because of personal circumstance, are apprehensive at the latest relaxation of restrictions.

I have found it uplifting being able to see people’s faces again and particularly their smiles.

Absolutely. I never realised how much I missed smiles until the masks came off. I also like the freedom of choice. Sometimes I wear one, mostly not and there’s no more judgement.

Wearing a mask now comes with different types of judgement it seems. I was hassled in the AIRNZ lounge and waiting for luggage. 'Why are you still wearing a mask, don't you know you don't need to anymore?"

I find it much easier to follow people's speech when I can see their lips.

That's knob behaviour, not sure what makes people think its any of their business.

Totally! I have managed to avoid getting sick since the start of the pandemic, and I intend to try and keep it that way for as long as I can.

My kids wear masks at school and the kids who are supposed to wear them and don't, hassle them all the time. We have to just keep reassuring them that it's still the right thing to do and they aren't only protecting themselves, but those around them too.

We've told them after October 1 they can make their own choices about mask-wearing.

Maybe my grey hair puts me in the 'vulnerable' category and nobody hassles me. I only wear on public transport or if it feels overcrowded but that’s not often.

I have a selection of responses prepared with a range of hostility levels depending on the person confronting me.

But mostly will likely use "Masks are great for keeping my nose out of other peoples business".

To be fair, if you knowingly had COVID you should be at home isolating, so not sure that would be a very good response. You could end up with a different type of abuse :)

Anyone had a PCR test recently and have any idea how long results take to get back in Auckland at the moment? Says upto 72 hours, but that would be quite a pain.

On Wednesday, for the first time in 2 1/2 years, my wife and kids won’t wear masks at school. It’s quite an odd feeling.

The UAE has dropped all mask mandates outside of public transport, healthcare facilities and places of worship.
