Hello,

I'm interested in purchasing a massage gun and was wondering if anyone had any experience or feedback they could offer. Are they legit or not worth it?

Something like these:

https://www.massageguns.co.nz/

https://myomend.co.nz/

https://www.irelax.co.nz/store/irelax/product-details/muscle-massage-gun/7

https://www.gymandfitness.co.nz/products/theragun-elite

Many more on Trademe.

Thanks in advance.

I found them on Kogan at a decent price, but the shipping cost was just silly ($50sh); I also looked at eBay/Ali, but decided against it due to shipping delays being common in the past few months.

I ended up buying one from TradeMe, and it works fine. These cheap Ali/eBay/TM ones appear to be incredibly similar to ones sold for way more from some of the sites you listed; I'm really doubtful it's worth paying this much more, unless you really want a particular brand or style (eg, the triangle style of a Theragun).

This is the model I bought (for OOS/back pain - not exercise recovery, he adds quickly!): https://www.trademe.co.nz/health-beauty/massage/massage-equipment/listing-2752632716.htm?rsqid=4623bedc679f458597d5b3c48bb56080-001

I ordered one from Aliexpress (S2 carbon black version) for much cheaper and have been very happy with the product. It took a while to get here but was legit.

Thank you

I do like the idea of little delay in shipping and definitely the price.

How have you found the effectiveness of the massage ie wish it worked deeper into the muscle or was it goddam that hurts?

I'm also keen on how you have found them?

Genuine relief or hype over effectiveness?

Umm, let’s say my use of a massage gun is fully on the ‘health’ side of this forum’s ‘health and fitness’ title! I bought one solely to help with the bad shoulder and arm pain I get from computer and device usage (OOS), and it’s pretty effective for that. It’s a bit difficult to reach certain parts of my back, but also having someone else do it can be frustrating as there’s minimal feedback for them. It can be painful when accidentally hitting bone!

All that said, for just over $100 it was totally worth it - that’s probably less than the cost of two massages, so it’ll soon pay for itself in many situations.

lol fully on the ‘health’ side definitely. The OOS is why I'm looking into them plus the wife has a few aches and pains also.

Thanks for the feedback.

The AliExpress ones are basically identical as the ones sold here, except you're not getting vanity packaging and the huge mark-up.

We have found the massager really good on sore muscles and any nagging pain.  Usually best to have someone else use as many places difficult to reach. Very happy we purchased.

But, as per the link I provided, the Ali Express models are not much more expensive from TM, and at least that way you get prompt delivery and CGA cover.

Here’s one on sale via The Market, which is also doing discount codes for Father’s Day (note, I think this model is more basic than the one I linked to earlier, eg far fewer speed settings):

I assume the Kogan ones are the same? https://www.dicksmith.co.nz/dn/buy/kogan-muscle-therapy-brushless-massage-gun/

Yep, but watch the delivery cost - when I looked it was around $50, and when I questioned that Kogan said they had no control over it as it’s set by the original seller (so Kogan seems to be operating an Amazon-like reseller model).

I ordered myself one of these from GrabOne. I'm told I'm too new to post links so I don't know if this will show up, but you can always search "massage gun" on the GrabOne site.

https://new.grabone.co.nz/beauty-massage-spa/massage-therapy/p/electric-massage-gun-2

$99 including shipping didn't seem like a bad price. It hasn't shown up yet so can't say how good it really is.
