The picture shows the distance to that charger as 13656,5km. We now all wonder where you were when taking that picture :-)

Charge Net turned on a new 50kw DC fast charger in Dannevirke today.

This means SH2 north of Wellington now has fast chargers at:

Lower Hutt
Featherston
Masterton
Woodville
Dannevirke
Waipukurau
Hastings
Napier

I'm in Canada, so the kms to the charger in the screenshot are a tad high. :-)

The Horizons 50kw DC fast charger is now operational in Opotiki as of today.

It's free to use (for a while anyway).

It supports CHAdeMO and CCS (Type 2) DC charging via tethered connectors, as well as having a 22kw Type 2 AC charging socket (byo cable). The DC and AC can be used at the same time.

It's at the i-Site in Bridge St, with 2 reserved charging spaces.

It's just getting better and better.

Today the Horizons 50kw DC fast charger at Te Kaha (East Cape) went live. Like the other Horizons chargers in Whakatane and Opotiki, this new charger is free of charge (for now) and supports CHAdeMO, CCS Type2 DC charging and 22kw AC charging via a Type 2 socket (byo cable).

A 30kWh LEAF should note be able to get at least as far as Ruatoria around the East Cape from Te Kaha.

Today ChargeNet enabled a 50kw DC fast charger in Culverden. It will add a fast charger to the alternate route from Picton to Christchurch. It's the first new fast charger in the upper South Island in a year. To some extent, the big quake paused roll out plans because the hope was that SH1 would be open sooner....and investing the alternate route could leave valuable charging assets stranded in a route that may see traffic decline soon.

Whatever. Every new charger in the area makes it easier to traverse. Keep'em coming.

The end of year rush by GIsborne's Eastland Group has also brought us new fast chargers in Matawai and Wairoa. Both are active now.

Tolaga Bay is installed and being tested and should be commissioned before the New Year.

These chargers firmly connect GIsborne to the rest of the fast charger network, making it easily accessible via Opotiki, at least. The chargers at Wairoa and Tologa Bay open up the wider region.

I think that's an average one new charger per day this week.

Awesome.

Ranfurly is indeed live today...and is now on Plugshare, too.

That's a lot of new chargers in the past 7 days, with several more to come in the next couple of weeks.

(I'm sorry about the huge screenshots from my phone. It's higher resolution than my desktop PC screen......I didn't appreciate what that would mean.)

This screen capture is from my Mac.

Just realised ChargeNet's Winton fast charger (31km north of Invercargill on SH6) went online, too.

The lower South Island has been transformed over the past year....Amazing.

Went to Te Kaha on Sunday to find charger out of order Thankfully the LEAF I have lent to me was a 30KwH as I got back to Opotiki with 19% would of been a much slower trip back had I had a 24KwH But it looks like I was the 2nd person to charge a Opotiki

Tesla have opened their 3rd supercharger site (with 4 charging bays) in New Zealand in Palmerston North. It's located in the covered parking behind The Plaza, which is on the Square, but the parking area is accessed from Fergusson St and parking is typically paid.

A Tesla Supercharger can only be used by Tesla cars. They can charge at 120kw, more than twice as fast as other DC fast chargers. Many Tesla owners will have free supercharging, but some will only have 400kWh (+/- 2400km) per year, then pay a charge per kWh.

Other Tesla Superchargers already open are at Te Awa (The Base) at Te Rapa, Hamilton (in the underground parking area) and in Taupo at the Fire Station.

Most Tesla owners will now be able to easily drive from Auckland to Wellington with one, or perhaps two, charging stops...and add 50kWh (300-375km) in under 25 minutes.

The new Charge Net DC fast charger in Whangamata has been vandalised and is out of commission for a couple of days.
