I would hope and expect so given the shared platform stuff but who knows

removing it was an abject brain fart

I was wondering whether any Tesla drivers with a S3xy commander (eg @Dingbatt; @jarledb) have tried out the 'auto presenting boot' function and, ideally, managed to get it working?

I've had no luck. Until recently, the car would toot upon a second press of the driver's door opener (supposedly meaning it's set) but no dice when returning to the car, even if a minute or so later. And now, with the most recent update to the knob and commander (installed yesterday) I don't even get that - rather a second press of the door sets off the voice command option!

Sure, it's not a 'must have' but I'd like to have it working, primarily for stuff like supermarket shopping; so hoping someone else knows the solution. If not, I'll contact Enhance...

Have not tried it. My car doesn't have sentry mode on when at home, so would only be useful when out and about, and I am sure I would forget what I need to do to have the boot open when and if I thought I needed it.

Would have to be something that always works automatically when walking up at the back of the car for it to be useful to me, I think. And I don't see how S3XY would be able to do that.

No, I haven’t tried the auto-presenting boot option either.
I was even a bit dubious about the value of the ‘new’ generation Model 3 and Y’s near field presence to open the boot by standing behind it.

I have had my car set up to “walk away lock” (excluding home) in the Tesla software since I first got the car. I originally set up the S3XY  Commander to link to the car and push information back to the display (cabin temp). But that meant the car saw the commander’s Bluetooth link as a key and didn’t lock the car when I walked away with my phone in my pocket. So there are definitely quirks in using the S3XY gadgets.

My M3 is just coming up to its 3 year anniversary and so it will need to go for its first ever Warrant of Fitness.

Those GZers whose Teslas have already reached that milestone, where did you go for your warrant? Did you go to Tesla or the local testing station (VTNZ)?

I went to Tesla, which I would recommend doing if it hasn't been to Tesla for a full look over since you picked the car up. They'll take care of any minor recalls at the same time and replace any other warranty items that might need it.

Tesla's WoF price ($80) is pretty reasonable.

I had a bit of work done at Tesla after I got them to do a general inspection as it was getting close to end of warranty too (suspension, long story) about three weeks ago and should have got them to do a warrant while it was there as that's due this month for the first time too. Instead I took it to VTNZ in Warkworth, who informed me that they won't check Teslas, on account of them having batteries. I pointed out to them that they did my Leaf three times, and they said it's because Tesla batteries are on the bottom. ... As opposed to all other EVs which have them in the roof?

So, I have it on good authority that that is not a general VTNZ policy but it still means I have to go somewhere out of my way somewhere in the next week or two.

TL;DR if you're taking it to Tesla anyway get them to do the warrant.

Same, I took mine to Tesla. It failed due to suspension play and they repaired under warranty.

I just had a look at the Tesla App. Is there a specific “Warrant of Fitness” request, or do you just have to do it under “Other” and write your request?

As above, took it to Tesla Wn. They even gave us a car while it was being done which I didn't expect. They will also give you Uber credits to get around for the time it takes to do the WOF. I intend to take it back a couple weeks prior to the 4 year car warranty expiring in case there is anything that needs a fix under warranty.

In case it's of interest to anybody I also have a model y which is very close to 80,000km and end of warranty. I booked it in to get a warranty check and after identifying an issue they remediated (rear suspension play).

My only outstanding pondering is that both my model 3 and model y had suspension play issues which were fixed under warranty. Suspension knuckles from memory. Hope out of warranty I don't need to do it too frequently. 2021 and 2023 cars.

Wow!

I just booked in with Tesla South (Kirkbride Rd, Mangere). The first appointment I could get was 10 March, so I’m glad I didn’t leave it any later.

I’m looking forward to them opening Tesla West, although when I last drove past the site, it is still very much a building site

FYI even if you have booked a time don't expect them to look at your car in that allotted time. Mine was booked for 10:30 but it wasn't looked at until 3PM.

ROTFLMAO that's the funniest thing I've heard all week!

I think that branch needs to be getting a memo from head office.

Or how about a memo from the real world, as opposed to the tin foil hat bubble this guy is living in....
