Competition in Mosgiel from the Green Island NPD disappeared over the weekend, now sitting at the national price again as far as I can tell.
Went up 5c yesterday at some Z stations in the Hutt
It's a hard balancing act when it comes to running such big differences across the country!
Oblivian:
Explains the multitude of 10c and higher discount days the previous week I guess..
Yeah... I'm noticing 10c discounts just before a price drop... I guess that when there's a bit of maneuvring room, the fuel company will give a 10c discount to their loyalty card people.
I'm curious about your "and higher" discounts. I've recently been getting 11c discounts, which I'd put down to having been away for a month, and BP wanting to lure me back from (they assume) some other fuel company's loyalty scheme.

I was more meaning before the rise. As if as of today we are subsidising those discounts before an actual market shift is expected in a couple of weeks (given how closely they vary now rather than settle)
Pak N Save (foodies and I think Countdown matched) have done a 20c (and I think 40c) in the past 2-3 weeks.
Behodar: I drove from Whakatane to Auckland yesterday. Filled up in Whk at $2.20 only to find it getting cheaper and cheaper the closer I got to Auckland (I think $2.07 was the lowest I saw). Then I hit Auckland proper and bam, $2.35.
Gaspy is your friend.
Sure seems to be a roller coaster ride in terms of petrol pricing out there and around Dunedin there is now a gap of 22c between the cheapest (NPD) and the most expensive (Z) as of 10am when I last looked at Gaspy. Z Green Island seems to have abandoned its quest to become cheaper than NPD Green Island rising its price to very close to what I assume is the national price (though I am now not sure what that is, because of the wide price gap and the massive price hikes and decreases)
It is starting to get high again in Johnsonville. Prices as per Gaspy (for 91)
Challenge: 225.9
Mobil: 230.9
BP: 230.09 (I an positive it was only 229.9 when i went past this morning)
Z: 231.9
In Wgtn CBD it is around 234.9
At these prices, I'll be considering driving to Upper Hutt and going to Waitomo and paying 205.9!
234.9 here at Z in Christchurch on my way to work, which suspiciously coincides with 2 emails this morning..
Z, Caltex and BP are all offering 10cpl discounts today, and increased their prices by around 5cpl overnight. It's 100% rigged.
One News just did a piece about fuel prices and mentioned in it the Gaspy app, now it seems the app won't connect to the server
I discovered how BP in Upper Hut are recouping their "losses" at having to drop their 91 and diesel prices to attempt to compete with Waitomo. 98 price went up. I now can't even fill a 20L container for $50.
