Linuxluver: Stories like this one are coming thick and fast.
Un-tethered electric buses replacing diesel buses is a no-brainer for urban public transport.
Lower fuel costs.
MUCH lower maintenance costs.
No emissions.

I'm looking forward to e-buses. Simply due to reduced noise.
Good application - buses don't really carry much weight (40 people might only be 3,500kg). Lots of low velocity work. Lots of regenerative braking. Can be part charged at many stops. Cost can be shared across many users and local government.

We had a long discussion over the weekend whilst travelling in the South Island. We have decided that our next vehicle purchases, circa three years hence, will not be fossil fuel vehicles. Of course we haven't decided what these will be yet, three years is a long time
technology wise.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
OMG! This looks like a Kiwi company (in Palmerston North) designing and building electric rubbish trucks and cargo-carrying trucks.
