470,000 Kiwis behind on repayments

"The transport industry — which includes road freight, postal/courier and delivery services — experienced a 79% rise in liquidations from 73 in 2023 to 131 in 2024."

yesterday far north had logging truck hit a car and horse float (no idea whos fault), yesterdays truck crash and recent logging truck loosing its trailer and hitting vehicles. outfits going broke, short cuts get made.

A muppet I encountered on the road today.

Look for the black station-wagon. All 3 incidents are of the same vehicle.

Doesn't seem to have saved them much time if you ran into them 3 times?

I tow a 23.6 caravan behind a Ram so I’m very conscious of cars behind me as well as in front. I try to let cars go by at the earliest opportunity that is safe for all of us even if it is one car. Coming out of Fairlie today there was a line of traffic going between 65 and 90 km depending on the road conditions. Up the front there was a dear wee caravan minding their own business.

At the Sandhills just before Tekapo there is a bend in the road where I managed to count the vehicles behind them. 28 of us. 🤬 We were about 13 behind them. i was hoping they would stop in Tekapo so I could have had a word but they just wandered on through.
And yes, a patrol car did pass us heading to Fairlie. To be fair it would have been dangerous for him to turn around and chase them past 28 cars. Grr.

Actually almost as bad as the cop doing a three point turn on a corner at the stop at Weka pass forcing cars on both sides to stop or slow down. Hopeless.

whats the problem? that sounds like normal.

40+ car queue and truck/caravan/trailer/etc up front. much the norm. wait 20 seconds and there will be another queue.

Drove from Gold Coast to Brisbane today. Twits everywhere. Lights not on, zooming through puddles, speeding...

Always look over your shoulder before changing lanes.

(They did indicate but wifey's view of it was obscured by the A-pillar)

Noodles: Has anyone had any experience submitting videos like that to the police? Are they receptive to them? Can they use them to prosecute?

You can upload files to Crimestoppers

So this happened on my drive this afternoon. Long straight road, so the Mercedes driver would have seen the oncoming cars. Don't know what they were thinking.

Bold of you to assume there was thinking involved.

That was an absolutely shocking bit of driving!

Hope the truck had a camera and got the number plate.

Where was that?

Last week a friend of mine almost got taken out by a guy who completely ignored a give way sign and went straight through the intersection at 50km/h without even looking.

With some of the more extreme behaviours that people are observing you'd have to assume it's more than just "bad driving". There must be other factors such as drugs, or some other cognitive impairment.
