Any other BYD owners in this thread?  I am trying to locate what is supposed to be a companion app for the car but I can't find it in the Play Store. There might be an IOS one but I don't have an iPhone so can't check.

The dealer said there was one but didn't provide any details.  He was not particularly informed about the car. I asked what would happen with the SIM card expired and he said he didn't know - he was only the dealer!  Money for jam for them. I was the 31st purchaser and apart from some test drives, basically all the sales effort was from YouTube videos.

(Don't own one - but am interested in these).

This is the only trace I can find.

https://apkvk.com/app/9732660-BYD

Can't find anything in the legit android play store.

That app would require 'sideloading'.

I see the  https://www.bydauto.co.nz/owners-manuals  site has the english manual. It mentions 'cloud service' - I but I can't see any mention on how to access it....

I've owned one for a week. There is no companion app yet, it'll be before the end of 2022. They're doing an OTA update for wireless Android auto and Apple carplay and navigation before the end of the year

When we purchased our Rav4 we were told that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto would be available for a free upgrade within a couple of months of purchase. It took two years years and at that time they said we had to pay for it, thankfully I had the paperwork to contrary although I still took escalating to Toyota NZ to get it honoured. I sincerely hope you don't have to go through that nonsense.

I have owned mine since Thursday :-)  Only one drive so far but did manage to turn off the musical direction indicators tone. But for some reason the display shows Passenger Airbag disabled - not sure why it says that and  quick glance at the manual posted does not reveal anything on the topic I can find.

You do not want the  airbag to inflate in an accident if there is a light person e.g. a child, in the seat as they can be harmed by the airbag so many cars have a way of turning off the passenger airbag. It can also happen automatically i.e. there is a seat sensor that know when there is a person above a certain weight in the seat and then it is turned enabled. This may be what you are seeing - did you have anyone sitting in the passenger seat when the display indicated that the airbag was disabled?

I was sitting in the seat so I hope it would be enabled🙁

Picked up ours on Friday, then drove straight home.  Ddin't have much time to play with it initially, but was glad when I picked it up the musical indicators tones were already turned off - I later found where to set it.

And yes I was told Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Nagivation app, along with a "possibiltiy" of an BYD app store of sorts.

Re the SIM, was informed they are still working out the details - was told owners get 2GB of data per month for 2 years initially, so I asked what would happen after 2 years or if we exceed 2GB per month, that was when I was told BYD are still "working" out the details.

Called the dealer and it turns out it's a mechanical switch located at the side of the dash where it meets the passenger side door. Rotated it anticlockwise to 9 o'clock and now the display shows the air bag is on.  Unless the dealer turned it off for some reason it seems like a strange default setting.

Got rid of most of the tones but there is one beep that I cannot work out what it does. I think it's either side warnings or exceeding the   posted speed limit. I did change that setting to allow for a 5km excesss.

Ha I must saw I hear a lot of beeps and tones while driving, and I have no idea what they are.  Sometimes something gets flashed on the dashboard but it was so quick I ddn't even have time to read then and they disappeared.

Mu biggest gripe, so far, is I can't really work out how to get the bluetooth working properly.  I paired my iPhone to it successfully, but when I am driving and have the FM radio on, and then say use GPS (tried both Google Maps and the iPhone Apple Maps) and selected bluetooth to output spoken instructions nothing comes through the car audio whilst FM radio is on.  This so unlike our Mini.  In the end I moved my old Jabra Freeway speakerphone from the old car to the Atto and use the Freeway for GPS/spoken audio instead...  I had a quick play and noticed that if I selected "Music" audio mode and selected bluetooth (or something like that) the audio from phone will go through to the car speakers, but it means I won't get the car's FM radio.  Didn't have much time to try it playing it fully yet so will try a bit more later on.

Because there isn’t any integration within the infotainment at the moment, I would suggest that the only way to listen to radio and have spoken nav is to use iHeart Radio or Rova to stream the radio station from your phone. Will use data though.

Yes I realise that, and that's what I want to avoid having to use radio streaming apps.  Guess I'll wait until the OTA update later on which hopefully delviers CarPlay in addition to (more/full) Infotainment integration.

For those BYD owners who don't want their screens to be fingerprint magnets check out this screen cover on AliExpress

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004179441447.html

I bought a set, one for the main screen and one for the small driver's one.

Can't imagine it's going to impact touch sensitivity.
