Hope the costs stack up, especially with the reduced NLTF and general reduction in VKT that feeds it... Aware that the Crown is topping up, but this is only temporary during the international fuel market issues.

National Land Transport Fund - about 70-80c of each litre of petrol goes in to this ring fenced fund for the construction and maintenance of national state highways and partial funding for Councils roading projects.  VKT is vehicle kilometers travelled, essentially under the current system, the more you drive the larger the NLTF gets.. its basically a self enforcing system that requires people to drive to fund the construction/maintenace of new road/street assets.  Any removal of this, e.g. EVs, bikes, PT etc. reduces the VKT and therefore the money in the NLTF.  VKT is dropping across the country (more so in Auckland) but the big PPPs are still set on the same terms when they where agreed and so if the NLTF reduces, the PPPs take the same amount of money which leaves less for elsewhere.

Had a laugh with some of the guys at work, as the notice does not say which year... end of March 2022, 2023, 2024...?

NLTF National Land Transport Fund. VKT is vehicle kilometers travelled,

Of course, silly of me, everyday acronyms that everyone knows.

All we need  now is the same sort of thing heading East on SH2....!

Tunnel through, like the train.

Dig a new tunnel, run a rail track AND a road across in it. Would totally open up that corridor from Upper Hutt to Wairarapa.

2 minutes 35 seconds into this interview with Porirua mayor Anita Baker she states she has diary appointments for blessings on 29 and 30 March.  I guess that means open to the public on the 31st.

(It's beyond me why a hunk of concrete needs to be blessed but OK.)

I suspect that speed sign is for state highway 58.
I suspect the sign is ‘motorway ends’ from its location in the picture.
