For those BYD owners who don't want their screens to be fingerprint magnets check out this screen cover on AliExpress

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004179441447.html

I bought a set, one for the main screen and one for the small driver's one.

Can't imagine it's going to impact touch sensitivity.

Good idea!

I would check around as there seem to be cheaper options than the one I chose. Also looking around there appear to be tons of cool accessories for the Atto3 which will enable you to personalise your car. I like these

I just applied my set of screen protectors this morning!  Now waiting for the "bubbles" to completely settle down, but it seemed so far so good.

Also bought a set of wing mirror rain repellent film and applied those as well.

Just as an aside, I ordered/purchased the wing mirror films on 22th Aug and it was delivered to me on 29th Aug - 1 week later.  That must be one of the fastest, if not the fastest, shipping time for something that I've bought from AliExpress.  And the tracking did show it originated from China (somewhere in Guangdong Province).

Not BYD related, but I ordered some LED bulbs and vacuum sealer bags off Ali last Wednesday, got the 'Handed off to local courier' notification about an hour ago. Seems shipping has got a bit better (my last order only took a couple of weeks as well).

I think I am going to go shopping on the Ali BYD accessory site and see what I can get to personalise the car.

This vendor said he can make RHD car mats for the Atto3 and they look cool.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004005511534.html

$87 including shipping to NZ for front and back mats versus $200 or so for ones from the dealer here looks like a good deal.

Attention all BYD owners. I finallhy encountered a day when I had to use the air conditioning and was surprised it was not that good. Even set to max and the temperature set to low, there wasn't particularly cold air coming out of the vents which was surprising. I will call the dealer tomorrow but just wondering what other owners have experienced.  Thanks

I vaguely recall hearing someone reviewing the Atto 3 mentioning they weren't that impressed with the AC, but that's frustrating especially as it's not like we've even hit really warm weather.

Just a comment on those mats you've linked to above - we bought a set of the same type/material for my wife's Leaf a year or so back and the fit was, TBH, fairly shite. I'm also not that impressed with the material and how well they clean up. I know this is no guarantee the ones you may not be amazing, but it's something to keep in mind,

OTOH, I love the 'all weather' mats I bought for my Model Y, also from Ali Express.Certainly more expensive than the type in your link but totally worth it. I'm not sure if you can find Atto 3 RHD mats but it could be worth looking for them. (These are the ones I ordered.)

Nope. Have only 150km on the clock all in the day time!  This is because we have two other cars which are easier to get out but will put some k's on soon and do some night mileage.

My mats have not arrived yet. Part of the delay would be because they needed to make RHD ones specifically. But they cheaper than standard floor mats so might be okay for what we want them for.

On the air con front have not seen any reviews complaining about it but then most of the tests might have been done in cooler weather!

For those of us that haven’t seen what’s been on offer, can you elaborate? Just a map, or directions, or turn by turn? Does it have its own gps, or does it use your phone? Is the UI like Google maps?

Looks like Google Maps. I snapped a picture while using it (updated when parked in the supermarket :-) but I wasn't driving. Turn by turn, speed camera alerts,  EV charging stations, speedometer etc.  Nice implementation. Using the car GPS as my phone not connected.  US accent voice which to me is more tolerable than an Aussie accent!

How good is the resolution and clarity on the display (it’s a little hard to tell from the image)?

When I took the Niro EV for a test drive I was disappointed by the display (Air model).

Interesting how things change. I was browsing back through the hybrid car thread and saw your post about the Escape and Outlander PHEVs because a BEV wasn’t affordable.😊 I too started my electrification journey looking at PHEVs but ended up with a BEV.

Here is a professional review

Resolution was excellent - no complaints at all.And as I was driving on the SH1 from the city and wanting to get off at Tinakori Rd, it popped up a split screen showing me the motorway off ramp and which lane to take.
