With tailgaters these days I will, when safe just pull over and let them go. I just cannot be bothered with letting them get to me.

I have no idea how it did not hit us and he even gave me a blast on his car horn straight after it.

Came over the Rimutakas yesterday.

1) Motorcycle overtakes me crossing solid centre lines

2) Tradie van overtakes so fast with blind bend coming up he has to smoke the tyres to slow down enough to get round the corner

3) Two vans tailgate me, overtake like mad people and then find themselves sat 5 feet in front of me at the traffic lights round the next bend, behind a log truck - which they follow all the way down. Was it worth it?

There is a simply astonishing lack of patience on NZ roads.

Spend the preceding 5 days on the Mainland. Not too much idiocy there apart from noting that the news that hand held mobile phone use whilst driving is now illegal does not yet seem to have crossed the Cook Strait! I counted 9 drivers with phones glued to their ears in 5 days, including 3 truck drivers.

that always pissed me off, when you do nothing and they toot at you or when you toot at them to let them know they are doing something they shouldnt and they toot back like there is nothing wrong with what they are doing.

I used to have a car with those, someone decided to tailgate me going down Ngauranga Gorge so I turned it on (not flashed) and they backed right off. I think when they see the bright red light their brain goes "BRAKE" thinking you are slowing down.

As I posted earlier in the thread, I wait until its safe to do so and pull over and let them pass safely, then get on with my life. Really easy.

When I am on a main motorway. Its never practical to pull over. Some cases illegal?
Most tailgaters I deal with are on motorways. Especially SH1 into/out of Wellington.
