I am not surprised that a company thats so focused on building new factories, making new car models etc. is losing money.

Its no surprise their margins have gone down either, they only sold luxury cars (Model S and X) until very recently, and now their volume is Model 3, which sells for a lot less and probably have less of a margin.

Good point. Margin falls by 3% while sales are doubled, trebled and quadrupled

I'm ordering a Model 3 as soon as my house in Greenlane, Auckland sells. It's just an awesome car. If I can, I'll try to get the long range version. I'm not fussed about the "performance" flavour......great way to wreck tyres. :-)

I have some Tesla shares.....and they have been volatile. But I've bought them at a wide range of price points across 10 months...and have lost a few dollars on some and made truckloads on others.  They can help pay for my Model 3.

I'm not really fussed about the performance version other than it seems to be the only way to get 4WD.

The other half has decreed that 4wd would be e feature she would want and would increase the WAF.

Actually, a few weeks ago it was changed from the Performance Lite to the Long Range AWD. The previous version we had was basically the LR AWD but with the performance software. Without that you lose some 0-100 time but you gain a lot more range.

Stuff must be about to get their hands on one of the new Model 3 press cars that have been spotted. They've published a positive opinion piece on Tesla today:

A quick squiz at the motor vehicle register shows that 3 model 3's were registered in July, 2 white and 1 Black, I'm guessing they are the demo models being used for the press etc,

NZTA update the database monthly, so my mid September we will have an idea how many have arrived in the next couple of week,

So has anyone here had the call yet?  People on the Model 3 Facebook group are getting calls to book their delivery in for next week!

I ordered a long range Model 3 this week. They said it should be here end of October. It's Midnight Silver Metallic Grey. It should be able to do 560km. We'll see.

Looks damned nice to me, I'd probably choose a similar appearance.

The base model available in NZ is the Standard Range Plus which is $39,900USD. If you take into account exchange rate and GST it comes in at $71,791 NZD before shipping and on road costs which is fairly close to retail in NZ

Sure, it's 100k+ if you go for the top spec model. $US35k was never for the top spec ;)
