With the options available it starts at $74,960 (incl. ORC) for the rear wheel drive standard range, and maxes out at $113,360 for the Performance model four wheel drive with full self driving autopilot.

Wonder what will happen to the others, that pricing seems competitive, for (arguably) a better car. Indicates delivery August, pretty decent if they can meet that deadline.

Hmm, wonder what happened to the non-performance AWD?

Too expensive, would need some govt subsidies before I'd consider one but that is for another thread.

How does ordering now fit in with those who plonked down the cash years ago to reserve one?

With that range it's a good price.

If you have a modern house (so its got a modern electricity connection) what's the cost to get a charger plug added into a garage, if the garage has the power board?

Based on what happened in other countries, there's no difference...for those of us that pre ordered it's counted towards your deposit

Currently in NZ, when you order any Tesla you not only get a mobile connector (that plugs into any AC socket) they also include a wall connector for free that an electrician can wire in to a 32a circuit. I recently had a 32a socket installed for around $90

Cheers for that, for some reason I was expecting a $2k type of figure.

Probably around 2k ish depending on the length of cable and what sort of capacity you install to the charger.

The chargers support 3 phase 32 amp (Model S is limited to 17kW charging so 24 amps per phase) if you don't have 3 phase capacity at your house then you can install a single phase on the same wall connector and charge at 32amp 7kW which can take a long time to charge if you only have limited night rate charging, for example off peak in Otago is only 11pm-7am

One thing to note in older or smaller houses is that many only have a 63 amp feed, so you can really only pull down ~60 amps, or probably less if you are going to allow people turn on jugs/ovens etc. if you also have a HWC then you can get close to pushing the limits and may need to lower the charge limit (or upgrade your mains cable) which you can do from the app or in the car.

Yeah, wasn't meaning the money as much as the waiting list. Someone ordering one now could look forward to taking delivery in 2021 maybe?

There doesn't seem to be a difference on delivery times whether you pre-ordered or not. If I sign into my account with a pre-order it's the same August estimate. It really only mattered in the US early on in production when they were doing barely 1k cars a week. Now that they're doing 6-7k in a week that's basically all of Aus and NZs preorders done, if all preorders converted to orders.

Tesla has opened their order page for the Tesla Model 3 for New Zealand, with deliveries expected to start in August.

With the options available it starts at $74,960 (incl. ORC) for the rear wheel drive standard range, and maxes out at $113,360 for the Performance model four wheel drive with full self driving autopilot.

The selection page for the base model says $66,760 after estimated savings. It's taken me around three minutes to grok this probably means when compared to running a comparable car? Any lawyers want an NZ law discount? ; ).

Autopilot is included in the base model price. Sounds like that is single lane and radar follow and usual collision avoidance type stuff. Lane changing and self parking is +$8K. That's also the part required for future self-driving features.

The Ghost of Henry Ford looms large over this car... any colour other than black costs an extra $1600, and in red its $3200
