Rumour has it that the EV6 is going up $5k at 5pm today, which means only the Standard Range will qualify for the rebate 😬 Kinda puts it at a disadvantage to the Model Y now.

Rumor seems fairly solid (lifted below from a Facebook group, credit to the person who posted it their)

May be an image of text that says 'Variant Air RWD Standard Range 58kWh Air RWD Long Range 77kWh Earth AWD Long Range 77kWh GT-Line Long Range 77kWh GT-Line Long Range 77kWh (Sun Roof) New MRPŚ +orc's Current MRP$ +orc's ~5.00pm 17/06/22 $72,990 $78,990 $94,990 $106,990 $109,990 Increase$ $77,990 $83,990 $99,990 $111,990 $114,990 +$5,000'

Agree, with your assessment relative to the model Y.

At current pricing, the EV6 LR RWD had a decent number of it's own strengths to compete with the the Model Y's strengths. But a $5k price hike nixes that.

Also brings the EV6 pricing closer inline with Ioniq 5 pricing, so would make that worth considering too.

For future orders? Or all preorders?

Now they'll just advertise it as $5000 off.

Need to order before 5pm tonight to get the cheaper price.

Wait til tomorrow and it will be an effective $13,500 price jump. Ouch!

I can confirm this is not just a rumour.

Just got the email from my local dealership.

People who put down their $2000 (may vary by dealership) deposit by 5pm tonight get the current price.

Everybody else pays the new price.

My dealer also confirmed the new pricing when I called him at 4pm yesterday and he said the sales staff were reasonably busy processing pre-orders with the $2K deposit to maintain the old price. I did test drive the EV6 but it didn't suit us even though it's a great car. We are now waiting for the Niro EV which the dealer said the PHEV demos might be arriving in July. If we like it and the projected pricing for the EV model is not insane, it looks like that is going to be our choice for our next car.

New pricing on the web-page.

Pretty much concludes my interest in this car. The Air RWD LR being below the rebate cap was really the reason this car was so interesting too me. First large RWD SUV with great range, acceptable power and 1600kg towing on the market under the rebate cap.

That said kinda moot anyway. Ultimately decided that I have a nice car that I really like anyway, and that given I do relatively few KM in it (our leaf does a decent chunk of our households KM's), there was no economic case to switch, and as such, it would by just spending what is far more money than I can justify on a nice toy. Same rational apples to the Model Y, but If choosing between the two, I would have gone the latter, basically due to the greater cargo space, and spouse desire for a premium brand (in the process giving up the AC port, quieter ride, 800v charging & longer range of the Kia).

Maybe today but over the next few years I think we should see the gradual deployment of faster charges so 800V is going to be useful

Surely if EVs price's are increasing due to inflation, they are going to have to increase the clean car discount threshold in line with inflation. This rise rules of the EV6 for me but when buying a new car I have always previously got a good discount with negotiation.

I would expect to see more people demanding triple phase power when building a new home. We got it installed after requesting it.
