In the past for large shipments they've come in via ship and then processed at the port for both Wellington and Christchurch. They're then picked up directly from the port with Tesla staff on hand to supervise.

any data on LPF degradation?
It's pretty much the best in terms of degradation out of all the (currently) possible Lithium chemistry.

Y to get a 2nd display?
no one knows what it is or where it is

somebody "knows" Tesla is creating a Tesla app store
but nobody else seems to know when ...

But can I take my VIN assignment/Tesla’s text as strong evidence my car will be in that first shipment?
I would say so! But Tesla deliveries can be a rollercoaster...so I would err on the side of "maybe" until you get an actual delivery appointment time.

droidxt: My estimated delivery is Nov-Dec. Ordered the weekend it was announced, however only just filled in the rego details today. Anyone know if that makes a difference in terms of queue?

Question: what do you lose if you don't pay for Premium Connectivity Subscription?
You can use your phones hotspot for data and the car should auto connect to that now, so most things ( youtube, streaming music etc) will work that way.
You wont get satellite view or live traffic visualisations on the map, thats about it (and routing with navigation still uses traffic data back end).
(you can still track the car via the app etc)
Its just less convenient
I have just cancelled premium connectivity as its too unreliable. I suspect that's an issue with roaming on Telstra. I get Aussie ads on some radio stations (TuneIn) and quite often it wont connect to my preferred stations, whereas streaming from my phone to BT on the M3 works fine.
I am not an expert in following the Tesla shipping side of things, but from what I can gather, it's likely that a swag are being loaded on to Paganella in the next day, which reaches NZ at the end of the month: https://armacup.co.nz/schedules/asia-to-oceania
Can't see what the next shipment from Shanghai to here after that would be, could be a wait? Looks like plenty of opportunities for the damn Aussies though!
(I got my model Y order in at about 2:15pm on the Friday that orders opened, and there doesn't seem to be any VIN assigned as far as I can see)
Any ideas how many fit on a boat, and how many orders went in on the first day or two?

@Lenbok, have you tried searching the order page in your account for a VIN? There’s a Chrome plugin that can also do it for you. Some who ordered around that time appear to have got in on the first shipment while others haven’t (or don’t know yet, perhaps?), but I don’t think many after day one have made it on. Stock availability (eg colour) may apparently also affect this.
I’m not sure if you’re a FB user, but there’s a Model Y NZ group that would probably be useful to you. That’s the same boat identified there, but it appears actual pickups will be available later in Aug, once they’ve been offloaded, groomed etc.
As for the next shipment, you will no doubt get more info from that group, but it’s more an unknown, given the current shutdown of production lines. It’s being speculated, though, that this may also lead to Tesla making some changes to the cars being made post re-start, eg whether new ones will come with the parcel shelf.
Edit: It looks like VINs are still being issued to some who ordered on day 1, so I wouldn't give up hope! Someone on the FB group yesterday wrote that they'd only just been assigned a VIN for an order they placed at 1410, so a very similar time to your own (though note earlier comment re availability of your own options re colour, interior). Also, the VIN may show in the code of your order page well before you get an email/text from Tesla saying this has happened, hence it worth checking if you want to be sure.

Annoyingly, the above isn't how it's currently working for the NI - rather, all NI deliveries are dropped off and processed (including grooming) in Akld, and then transported by road; this includes Wellington orders, although they can be picked up from a single location (Granada, I think). This means there's no time saved by arranging to pick up my car from Wellington compared to having it delivered to our home address - Tesla told me to allow for up to an additional 15 working days for this. I'm looking to fly up to Akld so as to avoid the delay and hassle of delivery, and now the rest of the family wants to come as well!

I installed the plugin but unfortunately it says no VIN found at this point (my order is a pretty standard Y, with blue finish and black interior). No Facebook for me, but good to know that VINs are still being assigned, I'll keep checking periodically, while holding my fingers crossed.

That's a bugger; I have exactly the same order (blue with black interior) but submitted it an hour earlier (1315), so hopefully there may still be hope for you!
Test drove a model y in Wellington. Liked more than the m3.
ride was a little firm but fine, acceleration such that any premium over the base model wouldn’t be worth my money.
