Guilliman: The car reports 7.7kWH per KM and this would probably have been since the first owner.

You can reset that. whilst that screen is displayed on the dash, hold down the dot button (next to the squares button) until it blanks out. 7.7km/kWh is pretty high. My best average over a month in summer is about 7.3km/kWh. Last Christmas we drove from Warkworth to Eltham and on that trip with highway driving it was more like 6.3km/kWh.

The car also shows a bar graph history of efficiency data, which is added to reach time you reset.

Efficiency does vary based on the temperature. We get a bit under 7 in the middle of winter, around 7.5 in autumn/spring, and about 8 in summer. This is nearly all urban driving.

I had been wondering about that, thanks for the tip. I've also been waiting for it to stop raining around here so I can follow up on another tip I read digging back through this thread about the suspension strut covers.

Technikhaus:

I picked one of these up on Friday, first electric car, definitely a change!

$13k, 70% SOH, which fitted my budget, and my range requirements.

Drove it around for the weekend, and it's not that bad to live with. Bloody ugly, that's for sure, but you can't see the outside when you're driving it!

Interior is nice, i had the dash and the stereo converted to English before I picked it up, so it's nice and simple!

What is the estimated vs real world range for 70% SOH?
What you have picked up is what I can currently afford in the way of a car purchase (as stated before) as well as your thoughts on just how damn ugly they are.

One day I'll actually head into a dealer and see what one is like to drive.

So I got a gap in the rain and had a look, it seems at some point mine have had something glued over the top of the bolts;

I'm not sure if I should attempt to remove them to check and afterwards replace them with the proper caps.

afe66: Now next time your at the lights next to the fat bloke driving the big Holden commodore, drop the ev out of eco mode and drag them off when lights change...

Then start crying when the police turn up at your house to arrest you under the boy racer laws

Why would I cry?

If I do something stupid I deal with the consequences like most adults.

Not sure what you think happens, no loss of traction, an ev can get to 55km much faster than most hulking mainstream petrol cars.

Then cruise at 55k til the next set of lights.

Why would I worry about police turning up?

Unnecessary acceleration.

"A person must not operate a motor vehicle in a race, or in an unnecessary exhibition of speed or acceleration, on a road unless the operation of the vehicle in that manner is authorised by law."

Well as others have already stated an unnecessary exhibition of acceleration is illegal, it is also a waste of energy.

You missed the exemption:

(4) In this section and in section 96(9), the operation of a motor vehicle in a particular manner is authorised by law if,—

(a) in the case of a race or an exhibition of speed or acceleration,— (i) the speed of the vehicle is within the applicable speed limit or speed limits; and (ii) the vehicle operator does not contravene any enactment other than this section that applies in relation to the operation of the vehicle; or

Simply racing off the lights won't get you a ticket... you need to either exceed the relevant speed limit, or have sustained loss of traction...

Suspect Mr ifanning hasn't driven an EV because the beauty of EV is no roaring exhaust & silent performance so the majority of people have no idea that you are even hooning.

Mr Policeman would only notice if he already had his eye on you/had you in his laser gun sights. Besides, the Boy Racers rules were/are orientated around anti-social behaviour (not road safety) and arguable the largest factor behind their inception was the noise nuisance.

If will if you are following the advice of the person I replied to, who suggested they drag someone, that is illegal regardless of what type of vehicle you drive.

Also, if the police believe you are breaking the act, they will give you a ticket regardless, then you have all the hassle of trying to challenge it

No I haven't, but what does that have to do with someone someone suggesting someone break the law?

Hey, I live in Dunedin, so have quite a few hills to deal with, but I get around 90-100KM from a charge, so far, that includes hills getting in to town, and 20KM or so of motorway driving.
Works well for me, and I was in the same situation, it was what I could afford.
I could've had more SOH, but I wouldn't have had the 10 airbags, and it would've been a 2011-2013 model, where as I wanted the later revision with more boot space etc.

That's one of the laws they use after the fact if you're causing a problem like too much noise or you run into something.

EVs are quiet, so the only real risk is being stupid about it......and going over the speed limit.

Dunedin as well (technically Mosgiel), so Saddle Hill and Lookout Point to deal with on the daily commute.
Also early morning cold starts in winter could be a factor - car would live in the driveway and I honestly don't know how I would charge the car at the current point in time (I am thinking outside extension cable from a power plug inside the garage until such a time I could get a proper thing attached to the outside wall)
