If they keep decreasing interest rates then the NZ dollar will continue to dro pin value compared to the US, so petrol will be more expensive to buy. Except our house prices will keep going up, as people will be able to afford to service larger mortgages,  so that will make many feel rich and keep people happy.

amiga500: These prices are getting very close to $2.30 which was a record for Christchurch last year.   Judging by what I am seeing on Aljazeera today I think the price may beat that record before long...

Guaranteed to break the old record. The wholesale price of fuel would not even need to rise as far as last time to break the record due our "no new taxes" weasel words government adding 'excise' taxes followed by that ironic enquiry into weather gas stations were con-ing everyone. It makes me loose faith in Kiwi's when the government can repeatedly insult peoples intelligence without anyone seeming to notice.

Here's table that shows just how high fuel taxes are relative to the rest of the world. The good news is that we aren't as expensive as Hong Zimbabwe - yet.

Only If we cut faster than the US,

The NZ government has a lot more scope for additional infrastructure spending to push along the economy than the US at the moment, (if you can get past NZTA's ability to announce any projects at the moment)

What is more interesting is that as the US becomes more oil independent and its domestic production rises, higher oil prices no longer hurt the US economy .. ( it does however still transfer wealth from consumers (voters)  to corporates via high fuel prices, its just that its not foreigners,)

Trump will eventually decide that High oil prices are bad for "his voters" and will start moaning about the prices ( like he started doing about the Fed raising rates last year)

What sort of discounts can you expect? Discounts are not listed on the website, have to contact them. Can you give us an indication?

Will double check but I believe around 12c. Like most rural cards and so on

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Complete rort - especially in CHCH. The most greediest owner sets the price in the morning, and within hours everyone has the same price within town. It's complete collusion. Greedy bastards.

I don''t get why someone (Not NPD) actually grows some balls and has it set to 5cpl less than everyone else?

Its a cartel if that's the case. This Govt was going to clamp down on fuel pricing, did they do anything?

Just filled my company provided car at $2.279 at Shell in Christchurch.

Wife gets a discount with Pak-n-Save Sticky Card. Usually 35c for one fill per month.

Around 2005 the petrol stations watched one another like hawks & managers would slip out at quiet times and do a drive around to check what the other brands were charging, phone that info. to bosses, & then the message would go around to either keep prices the same or to raise or lower.   So not collusion but the result was much the same!

Now all they need to do is open the Gaspy app to keep updating their prices 🙄

Still beggars belief that they increase prices at the drop of a hat, but very slow to decrease the price when oil (and dollar) exchanges work in our favour 🤨

As far as I'm aware the CC is still investigating. Investigations of this nature are complex things that take a lot of time and a lot of resource. This second factor is something the CC doesn't have a huge amount of so the first factor increases proportionately. We don't live in TV land where everything can be neatly wrapped up in an hour.

209.9 in Whakatane as of last night. I was in Aussie a couple of weeks ago and it ranged from 130 to 150, which was a bit of a shock!

Edit: Still 209.9 on 14/4.

In early March Gold Coast much the same nearly a dollar cheaper than NZ.   I can't remember the exact prices what got my attention was the variation.
