Any advise on recommended non Tesla chargers?

There's so much out there, from basic no features to ones that monitor the total load for your supply and adjust charging current, or connect to solar etc. Tethered / non tethered, UV resistant etc - just need to work out what sort of features you want and go shopping.

Scott3:

Regarding the Tesla wall charger, there used to be a legacy mode switch inside that would allow any brand of (type 2) EV to charge. Has this been removed on the later ones?

As best I can figure out, they started shipping them with legacy mode switch off, then moved to newer generation where legacy mode can't be enabled. This means you can't charge a non-Tesla vehicle from it.

hijacking or slightly veering off topic but Hyundai pricing is shown on the NZ hyundai webside for the IONIQ5.

Low battery 58kWh, 2wd spec car comes in conveniently $10 under $80K so the rebate is claimable.

When comparing to the UK price list we are a bit higher despite our lower VAT/GST 20% v 15%

In the UK they sell a 78kWh version for the equivalent of $83,607 which when adjusted for our GST would be $80,123

The cheapest 78kWh in NZ will be 90K! Its a real shame they didnt try to squeeze the bigger battery version in under $80K. It would be a popular model.

NZ may not be able to source much stock.... we are a tiny market that buys lots of cheap cars... (50% used imports)

OP, did you end up ordering one?

They seem to have added a bunch of inventory to the website so ordering one of those would mean a smaller wait time.

I ordered an "in transit" on the 13th, and got the information and the final bill yesterday including a in person pickup on the 7th. I was going to get it delivered but the 4-6 week estimate was just too much.

Weird - cancelled orders? I was told all cars were spoken for until December 🤔

Ordered mine on the 11th. I completed all the docs etc. straight away. Don’t have invoice yet and Tesla seem to say three month wait.

Had a gen 2 Tesla wall charger installed last week in prep. Looks nice and tidy. Will go either AMP or Vero for insurance,

Didn’t get self drive and won’t bother until there are some half decent reviews for it.

I had heard they redirected some intended inventory stock from other markets to NZ.

Interesting the same configuration car I want is currently showing in the new inventory as in transit. Wonder if I should just buy that if it’s quicker? What are peoples thoughts?

In transit means it's still on the boat. If you have an order that's due for delivery in the next month or so, it will be on the same boat, so you won't get the inventory vehicle any quicker.

That was quick. Hope you are enjoying. I talked to them today and they said my one is on a boat and collection would be end of July. What did you order to get it so quick? My config was pretty simple. Midnight silver SR+ with 19inch sport wheels.

I got a white long range, autopilot and premium interior ... I got lucky, someone switched their order to red and I got offered this one as they knew it was the config I wanted and I only missed making it mine anyway by about 30 minutes :-)

And it is awesome ... though could be a demerit point collecting machine though until I get over the "must accelerate" phase of ownership ... it is WAAAYYYY to easy to hop out a lane to overtake and go from 80 to 180 in the space it takes to over take and pull back in!  Not good! .. well it is .. but it's not! :-)

Nice. Can’t wait. I’ve got enough issues with demerit points as it is though so will need to be careful!

Wife is thinking of getting a model 3 so reading through the forums. So yours would be not applicable for the $8k rebate because of cost and getting it pre 1 July, correct or did I miss something?
