Insane to think how long this took for them to get here but in the long run the NZ and Australian crew get the very best versions of the car after it has been significantly beta tested by the US and UK customers.

The fact that they're here now is super good, and I'm sure everyone can appreciate the pressure that they are putting on local dealers of other branded electric vehicles to step up their game and get more competitive OR innovative with their pricing.

The point certainly isn't to "dominate" the market, but rather encourage uptake and encourage more competitive pricing at the lower end.

Someone mentioned the other day on the Tesla FB group that Tesla have over 131 destination chargers set up across NZ now.. and that is growing, too! Pretty awesome.

Agreed, @premiumtouring.

The Tesla value proposition is hard to beat. The growing super charger network. The extensive destination charger network. The software updates over the air. The Internet connectivity. The most advanced EV tech for both motors and batteries. I've never paid so much money for a car in my life, almost by an order of magnitude. But it's WORTH it like no gas guzzler ever was.

Of those of you who own or have driven/been inside a Model 3, which models of other cars would you compare this with in regards to internal space - both the cabin and boot?

I had assumed I'd be looking at a hybrid for my next car, on the basis a decent BEV would be out of reach for a while, but now I wonder I should consider a 3. My biggest concern is size, though - it would be replacing a Mazda 6 wagon, and so would be needing to meet the same need of taking a lot of crud on holidays; my sense is that the cabin space of the 3 would be fine for a family of four, but boot space (even when combined with the froot) would be significantly reduced. Does that sound a fair assumption?

I'm looking forward to seeing a relatively affordable BEV that's large enough for families and all their detritus - there are options at the top end but few (none?) at the more affordable end. Kona, Leaf, Niro... all relatively compact cars, and possibly the 3 is similarly inadequate.

I don't see how you'd replace the practicality of a wagon with a Model 3. It's the reason I can't seriously consider one.
