Word on the street (Reddit) is that the latest version of Leafspy Pro allows for dash language change. Don't think I've seen any mention of that on here which seems odd if it's true. Is it legit (i.e. does it actually work?!)?
Yes it's correct I've changed dashboard language on my 2015 Leaf without any problem. Still flattened from the fact that car services take $150 for that 2 minutes work
That's the entertainment unit, right? Not the instrument cluster?
I'm not sure about original entertainment unit, due to my car has it replaced with Carrozeria. Instrument cluster behind the wheel got translated to English.
We have solar panels, but no battery storage, so still no power during an outage.
I know V2H for a Leaf is not officially available, and don't want that either as that will shorten the battery life span. It's for emergency power only.
Chademo to 230v (i.e. V2L) seems very expensive.
I think the cheapest/easiest solution is to buy a 12v => 230v converter & connect that to the 12v battery. It requires the car to be on, but that's fine. See e.g. this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJWwDl-tUsM

Yes, most definitely. I'm typing this on my laptop while looking at the external monitor (50" 4k TV) and the power is supplied by an inverter that is powered by 12V batteries that were charged by my solar panels. I can run a 2,400W jug or a 2,100W induction cooktop at the same time as my laptop/TV. I live off-grid and I charge my PEVs from solar generated power. My batteries are 2 x LiFePO4 which are 12V & 310Ah each. My inverter can supply 4,000W continuous (8,000W peak). My lights & fridge are running from 12V, so they still work when the inverter is turned off.
The important questions are: What appliances do you want to run? How long do they need to run for?
You can buy 12V LiFePO4 batteries with 100Ah or 200Ah or 310Ah and some other sizes too. It isn't hard to put 2 batteries in series to double up on the Ah and current handling capacity.

Sorry, not looking to buy new batteries. Just looking at buying an inverter and hooking it up to the 12v battery of the Leaf. This battery is charged by the Li Ion batteries when the car is on.
It's for emergencies only, and I'd power the fridge and a freezer with it.

Instrument cluster. The navigation/stereo needs the SD card swapped/reimaged. (It is on the CAN bus, but I can't imagine it'd be very fast pushing the update over it if it could be done.)

You probably should find out how much power the fridge & freezer use. You can buy plugs that measure the energy used over time, that could be helpful for getting an idea of how long you can safely power them from the battery in the Leaf.
The other important thing is peak draw from fridge & freezer and ensuring that the inverter can handle that.
If you have a powerful enough inverter and the appliances run long enough from the 12V to give you the emergency backup you want/need then I see this setup working well enough for your purposes.
Update: Boat is practically here. Going though compliance next week hopefully with plates on before Xmas.
Fingers crossed we don't have any rust or other issues pop up but I'm guessing it should glide through, being relatively new.

I'm looking to use the Li Ion as well, not just the 12v battery. When the car is on, it recharges the 12v battery, up to ~1800w. So, an inverter can't draw more than that, otherwise it will drain the 12v battery.
Just using the 12v battery is a bad idea I think, as it will run out quickly.

Lots of people have done it via the 12V battery. As long as you stay below ~1800W you are fine. Just need to keep the car On.
Via the Chademo port is way more expensive as that's ~400V DC. Japan is trialing with some V2L adapters, but they're not officially here yet. I've seen prices of thousands of dollars for such a thing.
Via the 12V it can be done for NZ$150 with a 2000w pure sine wave inverter from Aliexpress.
