I just signed up to Charge.net.nz and have a couple of fobs on their way. I presume that is how you *pay* for your fast charging?
1. Tap the fob on the fob light on the charger. No mobile data required. No phone required.
or
2. Activate the charger from the list of chargers on their web site in the "My Account" list of options. This requires mobile data.
or
3. txt "Charge Kaiwaka" (or whatever the name of the location) to 226 - this will activate the charger. Your account knows your mobile number. It take a minute or two.....though I tried it at Kaiwaka and the mobile coverage there is patchy. Most of the location names are obvious, but some aren't. You'd have to check the charger activation page to get a the exact name. I should probably keep an offline list of the charger names on my phone.
4. Phone the 0800 number and ask for the charger to be activated. Someone usually answers.....but it's not a call centre. I think it's one of the charge.net.nz staff carrying a duty phone. Try to avoid this one unless desperate. I've had Nick Smith answer it and he's head implementations. I haven't called it since out of respect for his / their family time....and I haven't needed to. :-) You WOULD call it if you arrived and found the thing broken or vandalised.
5. Activate it via Plugshare. You need an account on Plugshare. Ideally, it would have the same mobile number and details as your charge.net.nz account. In Plugshare, you go into the site and on the mobile app you see the viable options with a wee green light. Touch the desired option and the charger should activate for you. Mobile data required. Usage is billed through charge.net.nz account as normal.

Contact ACC they have the vehicle classification wrong again. Just of many incidents of this.

Petrol has some ACC built in per litre. They increase the Rego of Non-petrol car's to compensate.
Run your comparison against a similar Diesel car. Say BMW 1 series 118D.

Finished charging setup.
32A separate circuit to the main board although at this stage only have 16A fuse leading to 16A limited caravan plug. (later can easily change fuses etc to 32A if needed)
Bought the plug holster from a chap in Canada who makes them ( http://erroneus.myevblog.com/buy-plastic-parts-here/ ) as amazon wont ship them to nz.
Very happy as tidy and no longer need to run extension cord down driveway to the garage and I feel there is a difference between 16A and 10A charging. (Got the 6.6kW charger in the leaf so might later modify the setup to charge at 30A)

16amp is 50+% faster than 10amp, so definitely better. 32amp would be 3 times faster than 10amp.
My 2016 LEAF with 30kw battery and 6.6kw AC charger arrives in a few days. I'll be looking at how to get a 32amp charger installed. I can definitely benefit from being able to do a top up from 50% to 100% in under 2 hours.....at home!
