Know anyone with a farm?
My mum stacked piles of hay bales and made me park between them and learn to reverse around obstacles and stuff.
Didn't damage the car and I don't think I broke any bales.

After all the going forward bit is covered, don't overlook good reversing skills.  Unbelievable how many delivery people almost can't get out of my driveway, cos of the very slight turn.

I completely agree.  A good Reverse J Turn should be standard content for any learner driver.  It could save a life if you're ever under attack from terrorists in a relatively narrow location with no one inconveniently located directly behind you etc.

I wouldn't recommend shuffling your hands on this one though...

As Jeremy Clarkson would say... POWER!

But in all seriousness i'd turn the steering wheel what ever way is most comfortable, also I find the comment in that youtube video "You won't know where your steering wheel's position is if you cross arms or shuffle" is a load of rubbish, you know where you are going by looking out the blimmin window and by being careful.

The best advice I can give is to mare sure they are aware of their surroundings AND also get once they have some experience get them used to driving with distractions i.e. the radio or younger siblings in the back seat. Also Hill starts making sure they can do them without hitting the car behind them or burning out the clutch or tyres.

Good Luck and remember shouting at them will NOT help the situation.

That dude is doing it wrong.
You use one hand and whip the steering wheel around as fast as you can, the faster the better.

Thanks.  3 lessons to date and I haven't shouted (yet).  It has really only been starting and stopping though and he's being very good at listening to instructions so haven't had a reason to shout (unlike back at home where "tidy up your crap, get off the playstation, etc. get ignored).  A fair few stalls and bunny-hops but he's getting the hang of it.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Whatever it takes to pass.  After that whatever works for the vehicle and situation.
