Regs:jonathan18: I did a ring-around dealers a couple of weeks ago looking for the best price for the car we were after (no, not a fancy European model, but a Mazda 6 Ltd wagon); I managed to find that, while some initially offered it to me at list price (at that time, about $61k), others were more forthcoming - the best I got offered by a few dealers was $48,500.
so which were the best dealers for discounting? was looking myself a couple of months back...
I was offered the same $48,500 drive-away price (so including registration etc) by Mazda dealers in (I think) Palmerston North, Napier, Wellington and Auckland (one of the John Andrew's dealerships). The reality is one dealer tends to at least match what another is offering... You'll see many selling the s/h ones (6 Limited wagon) at the same sort of price or higher on TM; the only ones I've seen as cheap as what we bought in a private sale have white leather - ideal for a family with two young kids!
