"how far out where the Rego and WOF's? " That probably will be the deciding point. Some Councils are forgiving provided that you get WOF and Licence immediately but you can only be a maximum of 1 month overdue regardless any other circumstance.

That month i got fined i got rego. Wof. Oli changed and new tyres ...as well as paid rent etc. Etc because one of my debtors finalky paid
Budgets are very well but dont work when disasters hit and customers go under owing larger sums. budgets are often the domain of the wealthier. We have a tight budget and its the only way we survived last three years but no fat in it for disasters, bad debtors at the levek we had. Im now past being hand to mouth and have excess miney at the end of each week but for a lot of people and especially chch businessess that is not the case.
bollicks councils workers fining for a temp park outside my own house as a result of eqc repairs and osh requirenents etc is just cruddy no matter how you look at it.
That being the case make sure your WOF renewal isn't going to fall in Dec or Jan or any other time professional repairers are likely to take holidays and have the Reg renewal date before the WOF expires.
