I would love to see fines for:
All idiots that brake in bends.
All trucks without brushes/scrubbers
Anyone in the right hand lane who is not passing
Any twat with their fog lights on ( it is illegal but they never get fined)
Any expensive sports car driver that can't
Any cop that thinks doing a U turn across 4 lanes of the motorway is less dangerous than the guy doing 10k over the speed limit he is chasing.

KiwiNZ: I always slow when I encounter logging trucks and let them get well away from me.

I'm sure you can imagine how short a time I spent behind the logging truck doing 80 when I was on a Ducati ...

I would have to change my leathers should I be on a bike and encountered a logging truck.

I always pulll well to the left if I see a bike intending to pass me. It does not affect me to allow them to pass safely and quickly.

I'm a safer driver than 88% of other drivers on the road.
I had lessons in Lake Wobegon.

KiwiNZ: what a complete idiot on Wellingtons urban motorway

http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/64414450/dashcam-records-dangerous-wellington-driving

While it looks reckless, I wouldn't call it 'incredibly dangerous driving'.

1) The car has a high chance of being AWD, being a Subaru, giving better grip and control on the road

2) Was the car that captured the footage actually doing 100km/h? Yes, the article states the drivers SAYS they were, were they? Plenty of times I've driven that stretch of road people are only doing 80-90. Hell, it's sometimes quicker to use the old hutt road when going into town from Johnsonville because of people looking at the harbour or looking at a Cruise ship tied up along Aotea quay

3) Did the driver of the Subaru have a medical reason? Wife\girlfriend\partner in labour?

It is incredibly dangerous. Also have an emergency dial 111.

KiwiNZ: On the urban motorway the passing thing does not apply at that point due to the numerous exits. If you are going all the way to the Terrace tunnel then the far right lane is the most appropriate and you should move into it as soon as possible to avoid lane changes as the traffic density increases especially after the Hawkestone St exit. Last minute changes cause tailbacks. Do a defensive driving which I have done and it one of the many things they teach.

They can teach what they like, however the Road User Rules 2004 give no such exemption. It is therefore illegal ...end of story.

Note the road is not contested in this dash cam footage ... Therefore the dash camsh guy should get a ticket once he shows the footage to the cops....but he won't

As I said there is lane control in force, and those cars were about to hit the terrace congestion which is there all day.

What a load of Shyte. About to hit the Terrace congestion which is there all day? BS. Honestly, from where the footage starts, the Aotea off ramp is to the left. It's then at least a 1 KM until the merge down to a single lane to go through the terrace tunnel.

Sometimes you can't do that and have to get to the hospital ASAP. Trust me, I am speaking from experience here.

There is a queue at the terrace almost permanently during the day until quite late in the evening. If you can't see the queue its a worry if you drive

I want to know why you 'slow when I encounter logging trucks and let them get well away from me'??

For what reason do you slow?

I agree that's always possible. nothing is impossible. like giving birth - I'd drive like that too. But chances are they were not. But we'll never know.

But AWD better grip and control ... umm ... I dare say 50% of teens that die on the road drove a Subaru Impreza. I rest my case. It's not the car, it's the driver and the situation. And they're going to kill someone soon driving like that. Hopefully not innocent bystanders.

I do drive. Thanks for asking. Yes, I know there is a queue at the terrace, but only really at morning peak and afternoon rush hour 4:00PM > is the queue anything significant, e.g. back to Bolton street or the overbridge. As you can see the queue from when you pass under Hill street, there is plenty of reaction time to slow down.

Again, I say the dashcam man says he was doing 100km/h, but this hasn't been verified.
