Is Tesla just messing with Kia? Every time Kia rises the price of the EV6, Tesla comes along and either introduces the Y under the recap value or does a price drop 😂

Kia is playing strange games. some dealers are telling customers they will absorb the ORC cost to keep under the rebate threshold, some are saying they will invoice ORC separately to allow customer to get rebate.

but Tesla price seems to be based one stock levels. high stock low price, low stock high price.

I see Tesla Australia now has the MYLR available for order (May/June delivery). I wonder if the same will happen here? The impediment may be the rebate cap meaning the gap to the RWD would be $23K+*, which could slow sales.

I note the M3LR is also available in Oz. I posted here because a Chasing Cars video only talked about the MYLR.

* Difference in Oz is $13K, so about $15K in NZ, then the $8625 rebate.

SR has pretty good range though... I can't think of the last time I had to drive > 400k in one go.

I can see some new M3LR in existing inventory stock but pricey at $92k-$101k

Quite a few people selling 2nd hand MY and M3 for sale on Trademe getting snarky with people asking why their 2nd hand car is more expensive than brand new inventory.

I shouldn't read the Q&A on those auctions but can't help myself.

Hey Guys, we bought a MY on 29th March for $75k (standard base Model with  blue color and from existing inventory). And Tesla dropped the price for base model last week.

Given the timing on how close the price drop was to us purchasing the car, is there anything I can do as a consumer to request Tesla to pay for the difference in price perhaps?

Does CGT apply to purchase of cars?

You should contact Tesla, explain the issue and see if they can do something for you. CGT does not applies to price drops.

If you've picked it up already I doubt they would be able to do anything. If you haven't taken delivery then they are likely to discount it as they usually do.

Have sent them an email, let's see what they say.

Purchased the vehicle on 29th March as we purchased it from the existing inventory.

Another question, people who have bought MY would you recommend getting paint protection or ceramic coating? If so any recommended shops you guys have used in the past?

The purists will always recommend ceramic coating first incl paint correction followed by PPF. If the car is brand new and has not been driven yet on gravel roads or expressway at very high speed for days on end then basic paint correction followed by PPF.

I see! Well the car is brand new and not driven on gravel roads but I have been driving it around city and daily commute to work and home (using motorway).

Or just get it wrapped.

That’s what I’ll be doing next time.

No, been there done that 2 years ago. They will guarantee your promised price won't go up since your order - but they don't need to drop the price because they decide to lower the price to the cars that have been already delivered.
