Please create a new thread if you want to continue discussing electric planes (or anything else off-topic to this thread about EVs).

I will delete any future posts about electric planes in this thread.

I'm sorry but I thought we were talking about EV's and aircraft are vehicles.  We were discussing the merits of electric aircraft. Perhaps the name of the thread needs to be change if you want the EV discussion to be narrowed down to cars..

The thread is in the cars, bikes, boats forum. There's a separate forum for planes. trains, cruise.

Yes it is and I wasn't aware of that till you pointed it out. If I go to the Home page, which is where I usually see a topic I might be interested in, it doesn't tell me what sub forum it is in nor do any of the emails telling me there has been a post on the topic.

I get the impression that if electric boats were being discussed that would not be deemed appropriate in this thread either.

Can we please please have a separate forum for e-planes?!!!

Yes, I understand many geeks are interested in the not-too-dissimilar tech challenges, but I'd guess many or most of us here are focussed primarily on e-cars (& trucks perhaps). The real-world here & now.

I do feel frustrated when I click through to a new posting only to find it totally irrelevant to my interests. Each to their own of course but let's split them out!

so i guess is an electric motorbike an electric vehicle? is an electric boat an electric vehicle?

wonder if mod can change title to specifically refer to cars.

I would vote to allow electric motorbikes as fair game for this thread.

Maybe there's been critical mass in the entire field that it warrants this topic being closed and individual specific ones might be on interest.  Road vehicles and/or cars then other road vehicles, marine and air..

Looks like we are getting closer if to it being available here if a right hand drive model Y shows up in Hong Kong for sale.

eBikes should be added to the EV incentive, makes sense. They use 1/10 of carbon than EV's and less congestion and parking woes

And electric skate/longboards. And Segways. And electric outboard motors. And, dare I say it, electric aircraft.

Incidentally, IIRC your walking shoes still include a tariff. Shoe prices could be reduced by 15%? if that was removed.

A Model Y under $80,000 seems possible. That's good news.

Why is tesla "controversial" in that article ?

A quick Google for volkswagen news at same website - the latest golf update from couple months ago - doesn't mention the billions of dollars in fines VW paid....

Hong Kong page for model Y is live. https://www.tesla.com/en_hk/modely/design#overview. Delivery is in September. It seems plausible that the standard range version could release here at a price that qualifies it for the rebate. You can't configure the 7 seater option.

I think calling Tesla controversial is a fair call. Here is an article from 2019, and the controversial things continue to flow.

https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-problems-2019-autopilot-elon-musk-tweets-2019-6?r=AU&IR=T

A lot of the controversial stuff with Tesla is a symptom of pushing boundaries, I would imagine most Tesla Buyers and shareholders would be aware of this, but still back the company.

VW isn't a great comparison, the diesel-gate thing was widly condemned and not controversial in my eyes.
