Yeah sure, its a direct competitor to the model Y and literally every one of those posts would have been headline news on every main news website if it involved a tesla.

It's their first crack that isn't a dinky Focus - frankly the fact they pivoted from kind of maybe sorta thinking about buying the MEB platform from VW to 'actual working car' so quickly is pretty amazing.

Might not be 2021 but still quite recent. Tesla has their issues too.

No manufacturer is free of issues affecting the customer. I think your comments about the Mach E are a bit over the top.

Absolutely dont care what CR or JD power say, they are meaningless.

Given the relatively few mach-e sold/deliver and the issues they will have a number of recalls soon I think. Feel free to buy one with your own money but I wouldnt.

Whatever, the 2021 Ford is in competition with the 2021 Tesla. And for the next couple of years, (or 9 years if Ford's learning is as slow as Tesla's and Tesla doesn't continue to improve) the Ford will continue to be inferior to the Tesla.

This argument's a bit moot in New Zealand, the UK, and Australia, as the Ford Mach E is not going to be sold as a RHD anytime soon.

Ford's been coy about whether this a global car.

Actually, it's already available for order with RHD configuration in the UK

wait an electric mustang? that's gonna be hot cakes, esp if under the freebate threshold ... but i doubt it will. maybe remove all the mudguards, sell without the car keys, missing a couple of seats, to sneak under the magic number ;p

the big question is - does it have mechanical door opening or is it electric ...

It's a Mustang, but not as you know it...

If they make a "fleet" edition of the cheapest one they might be able to squeeze it under the limit.

I don't really care, will never buy another Ford in my life after the horrid experiences I have had, and looking at the problems people have with some Ford's in NZ (See Fair Go), I think that keeping away from Ford seems like the sensible thing to do.

Electronic. Push a button to have the door open slightly.

I concur, my first and last Ford was a brand new Ranger which I traded as soon as the warranty finished. Just cheaply made and too many reoccurring problems.

Evo Uk: Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition makes UK debut

10 Jul 2021

Ford's high performance Mustang Mach-e GT has made its UK debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed ahead of first customer deliveries in late summer 2021.

The model rivals the likes of Kia's 576bhp EV6 GT, but costs a chunk more at NZD $132,000

The GT pairs an 88kWh battery with an electric motor on each axle for a combined output of 459bhp.

This is significantly more than the most powerful Mach-E so far, which produces a more demure 332bhp and 429lb ft for reference, and is more powerful than an actual Mustang GT, which produces 444bhp from its 5-litre V8.

It is, however, over 100bhp down on the Kia EV6 GT.

Torque is rated at a more impressive 634lb ft of torque – for reference, that’s 146lb ft more than the Tesla Model Y Performance, and more even than the most powerful road-legal Mustang ever, the Shelby GT500.

Just note that the release date for the EV6 GT is late 2022. So it is about 1 1/2 years away.

If you are just looking at performance, have a look at the Plaid version of Model S. 0-60 MPH in less than 2 seconds.

But even more impressive:
60 - 130 MPH:

Tesla Model S 2019: 9.4 seconds
Porsche Taycan Turbo S: 8.1 seconds
Ferrari F8: 5.37 seconds
McLaren 720S: 5.37 seconds

Tesla Model S Plaid: 4.71 seconds.

Admittedly it starts at around $225,000. But I am pretty sure neither of non-Tesla cars in that list are any cheaper :D
