Nissan Ariya prices have been announced for Norway.

All NZD prices is including tax. EVs in Norway are tax exempt.

Ariya 63 kWh (FWD): 409,900 NOK ($76,447)
Ariya 87 kWh (FWD): 499,900 NOK ($93,233)
Ariya e-4ORCE 87 kWh (AWD): 529,900 NOK ($98,827)
Ariya e-4ORCE 87 kWh Performance (AWD): 575,900 NOK ($114,303)

First European deliveries will happen in Norway from summer 2022.

So looks like only the smallest battery front wheel drive will be able to get the rebate here in NZ.

New electric bike.

During the "passing everything on the public highway" I am wondering why the video is blurring the speedometer

Whatever kind of motorcycle you drive, it's not OK to do high-speed tests on public roads. Keep it to the tracks.

I used to live next to a 16 year old racer who'd take his 2 cycle race bike, street illegal, doing about 160 KPH on a 50 KPH residential road. The police never caught him, but luck did run out when he lost his foot rear-ending a car.

Umm yea I guess because he is going well over the speed limit.

Wasnt it supposed to be out this year?

Strange how fast the market moves.

When it was announced it looked too good to be true, now it looks like it will see very heavy competition esp at those prices.

Quite pricey for what is essentially the same size as an X-Trail.

Yes, EV's in general are, on the whole more expensive than there ICE equivalents, but based off a top spec X-Trial Ti 4WD, that starts at $55,460 (price from Nissan NZ website)

Would need to be de-rated to be ridden with a car license in NZ, - a moped's power output cannot exceed 2kw  and 50km/h

"A source who has asked to remain unnamed but who has contacts with Tesla staff in Hong Kong and China has told The Driven that an Australian launch will be delayed until early in Q2, 2022 because demand for the Model Y is proving to be so high in China."

Looks like the Y will be delayed a bit longer

I had a look about the practicalities of getting a motor bike licence so I could wander a round town on electric bike or scooter and was surprised how easy it could be for me

Ie sit theory, buy scooter and pass basic driving test then just sit on learner licence for many years.

All electric bikes are approved as learner model. I wouldnt drive at night or on open road.

A recent change to the rules announced on 4 November 2019 means a Learners licence is only valid for 5 Years

In general (non Tesla, non china) ev's carry a $30k - $45k price over a comparable petrol car. (Mini is a glaring exception with only a $18k price premium over the base petrol one).

So $40k for the base x-trail, compared to say $76,500 for a base Ariya wouldn't be too much of a surprise. (should note we are comparing a 126kW car with a 160kW one).

The other Ariya trims are 178kW, 250kW & 290kW (0-100 in 5.1sec) while the top spec x-trail remains at 126kW.

In other markets (i.e. USA), Nissan priced the leaf fairly high, then aggressively discounted, so don't read to much into list price.

For NZ, 2 - 3 years after launch in japan, these will start turning up in fairly high volumes at used import price points. As with the NZ new leaf, very hard for Nissan NZ to compete with this regardless of what they price the car at.

If a $5k delta on subsidy isnt enough to fix the problem nissan nz have deeper issues

I wonder if the NZ car will feature CCS or Chademo, the Japanese cars will be Chademo for sure.
