USA cant electrify with Ford and Gm leading, they are both incompetent.

The UAW are against EVs and wont cooperate with building them either.

Those a both a bit broad.

Ed Munro did a deep dig into the Mustang Mach-E, and it was generally favorable, certainly much better than I expected.

The Union, UAW, isn't against EV's; they're against robots and simpler assembly (less components).

The younger leaders seem to like EV's, while the older leaders distrust any changes.

Maybe more complex. American built EVs will probably contain a larger proportion of imported components and components built with non-unionised labor.

That's not the case. UAW and Biden have come up with a new deal - an extra US$4500 in consumer tax incentive per vehicle if it's built in a plant with union labor. Good for GM and Ford as well + USA Fiat/Chrysler

Tesla, Toyota USA, and others are gnashing and wailing. Those plants are not unionised vehicles coming out of there will not get the extra subsidy. Those vehicles will qualify for the remainder of a US$12k max proposed by the same plan tho.

Don't be silly, nobody does that. They hire a private jet to fly it to Wanaka.

When it runs out of battery, hitch up the horses and use regen braking to charge up again.

Sounds like Lucid is onto a winner

But at $170K USD (~270K NZD inc GST ) and weighing in at 2.2 tonnes, I suspect the number that end up in this part of the world will be countable on one hand ( maybe two)

To be fair a sedan with 500+ miles range in NZ is a bit wasteful.

520 miles is almost Picton to Invercargill ~12 hours driving.

for a Ute that might be towing a boat somewhere, sure.

Hope no one is relying on your calculations for deciding where next to charge the batteries - not even if flying line of sight 🙂.

(500 miles, perhaps?)
