You can get mdf spacer rings for about $30 a pair allows you to mount a 6.5" speaker. To be honest I wouldnt want to go anything smaller than 6 to 6.5" component as your midbass will suffer (ie your music will sound tinny, hollow and empty). Treating the doors go a long way to helping the sound.

If your budget allows these Alpines are great

And if you decide to amp them later with 2x60rms (or higher) they will really shine.

Remember its not all to do with how loud, but also how clear.

how does the component side of things work....where do the square boxes go....from the listing on trade me u talked about...

The box can go anywhere you can fit it and it is out of the way. If you put tweeters and mids in the doors, sometimes there is a gap in the door card where you can put it. Wrap it in plastic first if it is going into a wet area like a door though.

For the wiring side, there will be an input where you put the speaker wires from the head unit. Then there will be two outputs, one for tweeters and one for mids. Or possibly marked high and low. Either way just match the tweeters and mids to the correct output and you are away.

Then you have a three way component setup with a midbass, a mid and a tweeter. Need to buy a more expensive speaker set that includes all three and a 3 way crossover.

Ditch all the factory stuff, and fade out your rears so only the fronts are on.

Ive been using rear fill for years thinking more speakers = better, but not so. Front sound stage makes music sound so much better, and you can tailor your sound settings to the one set of speakers that matter rather than a mish mash of quality fronts in treated doors and old rears.

Plenty of places

- under the dash and run 2 sets of wires to the doors
- behind the door cards if space allows

Hopefully he means 2 pairs of others as in front and rear, if not and he has a 3 way component system up front then there may be mini power amps in the system that wont work with a standard head unit behind them, they would have to be bypassed.

Id be more inclined not to divy up the weak power of a 4x50w headunit further by splitting it 3 speakers.

Although if amping a nice set of 3 way components in treated doors running off a 2X100RMS amp would sound a treat...and even more so with a 8" sub added.

cheers for input guys...thinking of doing the mongoose mat in doors but maybe just 2 way speakers focal...component not sure,,will look at doors unsure where to put tweets in my wagon,,,more thought neeeded
