What phones are you using with issues?

Scanning phone screens is a nightmare - you only have to look at the issues at airports. In recent versions of Android an app can force full screen brightness which is something the Air NZ app has recently started doing which is great.

Z aren't doing this with their app, but probably should be making the barcode slightly bigger and forcing full screen brightness when the barcode screen is visible.

Thanks for your help. My phone (on which the app works - with QR code scanned inside) is an old Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 and my wife's phone (on which the app is totally useless) is a 2018 V/f Smart V8. Both budget phones for sure, and aging too, but if my 5 yo phone works but my wife's newer one doesn't (not even inside), then it does seem strange???

So is anyone using this to stack litres while the prices are low?

I believe you can "store" up to 1000 litres

Just keep in mind in the T+C they can give 3 months notice to end the Sharetank trial and what you have left may not be refunded.

I can't see fuel prices going up too fast for the next few months so will probably wait another 2 months at least before stocking up.

This looks awesome for boating.  Buy at cheapest price Nationwide (fake GPS).

Pump in 200 Litres at Picton Z saving about $40 bucks.

But right now, I wouldn't trust Z to stay solvent.  They are selling surplus from refinery at a loss.

I would assume they are in the same boat as BP/Mobil, just that we hear more details from Z as they are a NZ listed company

Just to add to this thread..

Z have recently deployed an update for their app that now won't let you top up your sharetank if the phone is on charge. This is presumably to stop the people and companies leaving phones in towns with cheap petrol and remotely accessing them to top up their Sharetank balance.

If anybody here does fall into that category - remember WiFi controlled switches to turn the phone charger off from the wall before you top up, and then turn it back on after you've finished are cheap. 😀

I assumed Z more vulnerable as a small (in oil industry terms) NZ only company.

Damn that is sneaky... My version is low tech, trained up my mother in Nelson to top up for use in Auckland.

If they are accessing a PC with the phone plugged into it to do it, that would stop it from working tho.

They're reported to be planning a $360m cap raise to generate cash.  Suggests to me they have a few problems.

Looks like they had some serious underlying issues beforehand as lock down only effects 1-2 weeks of their reporting period.

Fuel margins have been heading downward since this time last year. We know how intense competition is in the fuel market because fuel was routinely being sold at or below cost in many parts of the country.

None of this stopped the Commerce Commission from wasting time writing a highly flawed report that didn't even focus on many areas of the market..
