johno1234: PS4 in 255 55 18 for my wagon are > $800 a corner!
Hankook RA33 almost as good < $400.

That seems expensive, I paid $500 a corner for 245 45 18 PS4S's, fitted and balanced a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps they've increased in price significantly over that last 6 months. I did order mine last year.

I've noticed prices seem to vary wildly with small changes in the tyre spec. Less common sizes are often much more expensive.

The Continental Maxcontact 6 tyres look okay and have good reviews, and quite a bit cheaper than the PS4s and similar. Might look more into those over the next few days

Potentially a bit noisy

I haven't used Tyre Hub, but I did use https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/. One of their customer reps assisted me via email in selecting the correct sized tire for my vehicle (road --> MTs). They even shipped them to a fitter of my choice in Palmy!

I highly recommend them. It looks like they have 40% off at the moment.

I've ended up going with Michelin Primacy 4's, $550 each including fitting.

Will update here once they're fitted.

I recently got a set of Bridgestone Alenza 235/55/19 for the Santa Fe - wasn't specifically looking at this tyre but got a deal I couldn't turn down. So far they seem excellent.

That's a negative sorry. But it was significantly less than 50% of retail price.

Generally try to avoid buying Chinese brands these days where there are other viable options.

That said, I had a set of GT Radial tires on my corolla that I have been the most satisfied with of any tire purchase.

Also have had a set of no name (some three letter brand) Chinese tires on a primera, which had out of round issues leading to steering wheel shake.

Wouldn't go near them on my own car, in fact if I see them on a car on the road I'll go as far as to avoid that car. They really shouldn't even be allowed to be sold.

The Primacy 4's weren't in stock when Beaurepairs said they would be, so they offered me a free upgrade to the new Pilot Sport 5s for the same price + free wheel alignment.

So all up it was 4x Pilot Sport 5s 245/45R19 for $2200. Still pricey but nice knowing I've got tyres that are ~3months old. Completely overkill on my car but heh.

On the drive home they were noticeably softer and smoother than the old ones I was replacing (6 yrs, 59,000km). The PS5s might be a touch noisier on the rough NZ roads, but will know for sure when I do a long drive later is week.

Can highly recommend Beaurepairs to deal with. I emailed their main contact email and they helped a bunch to source tyres from other stores and update me throughout. I probably received 5 or 6 calls total throughout the process.

Bought some second hand from Japan Dunlop Pt3 for the front of a Rav4. $150 fitted from trademe for a pair. Really good tread remaining and seem to stick alright.
