reveals...sigh.. anything with v2l can do that, i cant imagine it being an actual useful feature tho

Funny - I always thought that your negative outlook was reserved for anything that wasn't an EV, but apparently you can be negative about them too.

Regardless of the fact that another vehicle can do this, and even if you're skeptical towards its usefulness, someone may look at this and think "oh that's interesting, I'm going to read some more" and more people learning and engaging with EV is a good thing.

Personally, I quite like the idea that I can take my (green)redneck truck into the wilderness with my electric quad on the back, and spend the day cruising around on the quad, using the pickup to then charge the quad as required, without needing to take a gene with me - so there's a use already.

I'm not negative on the feature, V2L is a great feature, just the particular use of charging another EV.

Personally I think Rivian stock is over-valued.

Agree,  having not delivered any customer cars yet and not going to until April/May.

I like their vehicles and the company in general but a $100bn+ valuation is just nuts given their relatively limited growth plans and slow start, they are not a new company.

Hi.

Quite sure I spotted a dark blue / grey Polestar driving around Parnell a couple of days ago.
So think official sales should start soon.

5th Gear Recharged is an interesting show. Tiff isn't there, but I don't mind the line up and they are doing some interesting takes on electric cars. I haven't seen anything to replace my sports wagon at a near comparable price to my ICE, but I am hopeful.

kingdragonfly: In the UK, Great Wall Motors' EV-only brand will begin taking preorders for its retro-styled electric compact hatchback in December.

Ora Cat First Look - Would you buy this โ€œcheap" Chinese electric car?

Electroheads

I'd happily buy an Ora Cat. We've seen a few reviews on YouTube. My wife loves it.

kingdragonfly: That reminds me. A selling point of Rivian was its 120V (American mains) external power point, but oddly that article has been removed from Rivian's website.

Personally I think Rivian stock is over-valued.

It's a bet on the future. Rivian have a great product that is at the very edge of mass production. They don't have stranded assets in fossil fuel vehicles to cause execs and shareholders too drag their heels - as we've seen with every other major automaker..... Has EV-pushing Deiss been sacked as VW CEO yet? As an example.

Rivian stock is currently an investment in the same way as '$10 on horse #7 to win Race 3 at Addington' is an investment.

That pretty much sums up most people's attitude to the stock market these days doesn't it?๐Ÿ˜†

Anyone seen the new Lexus ux300e? I see Lexus are putting a lot of ads for it on TV and have got the price to under 80k so it qualifies for the rebate. The specs aren't great compared to many new generation EVsm and looks like it has that touch pad think rather than a touch screen.  But still looks a lot better than the mazda MX30 which isn't much less, plus Lexus is a luxury brand (should have  toyota reliability) unlike mazda, and mazda now don't have touch screens either which has turned me off mazdas.

I quite like the look of the new Kia EV6, but guessing well be well over the 80k amount when it arrives.

My main gripes with the Lexus is that it's small and expensive for what it is, the range is too short, and it is a BEV built on an ICE platform. AND it it uses CHAdeMO for charging.

I don’t think this will be the case. The base model Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes in just under the $80k threshold, and Kia have already announced a base model that has very similar (the same?) specs in terms of power and battery as the 5. Given Kia models are typically cheaper than their equivalent Hyundais, I’d be very surprised if this one comes in over $80k.

Whether that makes the base model EV6 or Ioniq 5 worth spending $72k on is a different matter… Personally, I’ve ruled them out based on the low range (nothing as bad as that Lexus or the Mazda, but still not the ICE family wagon replacement we need). I also was looking for a bit more on the performance front than what I experienced when taking the more powerful second-tier Ioniq 5 for a test drive (so can assume the base spec would be below this).

Exactly. For what will likely be a similar price when it gets here, the model Y will have significantly longer range and faster charging.
