Ge0rge: There is no alternative available right now to replace a 79 Series Land Cruiser.  No EV has a payload of 1t and a towing capacity of 3.5t.

The B1 will wipe the floor with a Land Cruiser. Going into production this year.

As I said - there is no EV alternative available right now to replace a 79 Series Land Cruiser.

Edit to add: At that price, We'll probably see about as many of those as we currently do Merc G-Wagons.

Plenty of EV vans available in the world now, but utes get FBT and can be weekend fun cars for the alpha male accountants.

FBT/Utes is usually a compliance issue, not the result of a specific exemption.

Much as I like the idea behind Bollinger they are a small custom low run manufacturer with no plans to be anything else.

Consider electric classic cars has many more EV 4wd vehicles on the road than bollinger have managed so far..

Surprisingly not that rare.

Autocar NZ reported MBNZ sold 40 new AMG G63 in 2020, another 54+ in 2021, with the big V8 outselling the diesel 5 to 1.

Herald article today: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/okay-beamer-striking-image-shows-tesla-takeover-at-auckland-port/XC6QUF6ZKCJGSXAFN72YOROYXM/

It seems the sales of the Model 3 are pretty good, I know that I've seen quite a number of them on the road around the Waikato.

The particular image is from a November shipment but yeah, most Tesla shipments now look like that now 🙂 There's meant to be another arriving in the next few weeks with around 800 cars on board

Those numbers are quite surprising! Although, I'd still class them as rare in comparison to the 12,580 Ford Rangers alone reported sold in 2021 (MIA Sales Data).

Interesting to see that the total number of Petrol Hybrids was only slightly more (13,822) across all makes, and total pure EV sales for 2021 were 6817. Not that I am a fan of the Ranger personally, but that's a pretty impressive sales record when one marque alone is comparable to almost an entire fleet.

As I said earlier - if someone can build, import and support an equivalent EV ute, they'll be away laughing.

You have to smile when the Herald article has an image with a caption “Tesla Model 3s hugely popular in 2021”. The picture is of some of the old shape Model Ss.

Tesla outsold BMW, Audi and Mercedes here last year and nearly outsold ford (and close to VW), in passenger cars.

And thats with 1 model and 1 showroom.

Nah, they're all Model 3. Just some have their shipping plastic wrap on still.

Unless you’re joking, I don’t think we are looking at the same image.

I don't have access to the full article, but if it's the pic of the cars on the wharf, then all the Tesla's on it are all 100% Model 3. If it's a pic lower down, then I apologise 🙂

@Dingbatt you're 100% correct, that is infact a Model S. I don't have a sub to The Herald so couldn't see that pic.

But yeah, Model S & X didn't start officially selling here until 2017 with the refreshed frontend. Any with the old nose cone are imports.
