Obraik: $300?! That's like half of what I've spent charging my car over the last 46,000km I've driven it.
Same, only spent $380.99 on charging on my EV in 3.5 years!
So you guys are the ones clogging up the free chargers when the rest of us are gasping for juice...

Nah! Most of my public charging has been at Superchargers for free or at the hotel when I get to my destination. Otherwise it's all been at home at $0.09/kWh

With my night rate charging, my car costs under 3c per km to run, even including inefficiency in the charger itself.

Wow, I didn't know I was going to get a response like that from you, SaltyNZ...
No, I used to use my one free hour of power with Electric Kiwi every night to charge, and now most recently Contact Energy with three free hours of power.

Lol, I'm just kidding. :-D (Sorry if it didn't sound like I was).
Did you get a faster AC wall charger installed? We've found that a 16A charger (bearing in mind that the Leaf only actually charges at about 14.5A) is more than capable of recovering our daily mileage, but of course it won't manage that in an hour or three. More like 5 although once I have a car that I don't have to nurse all the way it, ah, might be more.

make sure someone doesn't steal your brake pads when you get your new car
Unlikely to happen here in NZ where we have first world things like Warrants of Fitnesses that catch that sorta stuff.

Batman:make sure someone doesn't steal your brake pads when you get your new car
SaltyNZ:From the article:
The firm does not expect any low-price electric vehicles to hit the Kiwi market in the next few years, stating that “there are no other EVs planned for launch that we are aware of, that are anywhere near $48,700 until beyond 2026”.
Except for the MG which is $49,990 on road already.

Once it hits 3 years old. That's a lot of driving without a brake pad. You'd just about get away with it on some EVs, depending on regen strength.
Linuxluver: The MG is very nice car. I own one.
It was a very close call between the MG and Model 3 for this purchase for me definitely.

The one being sold in NZ is the runout model isn’t it?
The next generation one seems quite a lot more capable. Updated styling, new infotainment and instrumentation and a bigger battery.

Yes, new one is supposed to have a choice of 50 and 70-something batteries. Be interesting to see if the 50 stays at the same price when it lands in NZ.

The HS PHEV that it seems to share some bits with is mid $50Ks so I would expect it to be a little above the current pricing. The ZS does kind of own that budget space where you can get a brand new EV (after rebate) for under $50K. All the reviews I have watched on the new one indicate it is pretty good value and an improvement on the previous model.
