Doesn't matter. I'm allowed to do the speed limit and if the guy in front of me is in the way, he needs to move. Besides, I'll call anyone I want a slow driving clown, regardless of what lane they're in.

It's not your road and it is not your playground

Don't lecture me. I don't know what makes you think I've suggested it's my playground - that comment is out of line. I'm legally entitled to do the speed limit and as long as the conditions allow it, I will do so. Driving within the law is in no way treating the road like it's my playground.

The law also requires you to treat other road users considerately, even those doing 80 in the left lane because they want to. Your comment calling anyone clowns if they are under the speed limit (trailers, trucks, anyone), doesnt give an impression of consideration tbh.

The driver in the left lane is doing nothing wrong, the driver in the right lane should either complete an overtaking maneuver and pull over or pull over behind the car in the left lane.

Correct; until he crossed over to the right lane and sat there.

I don't think you've read my post. I'm talking about people doing 60k in an 80k zone. If they were actually doing 80k, I'd be happy with that. I never said anything about trailers or trucks. You tacking those on to my comments is simply disingenuous.

You seem to be suggesting that doing 20k under the limit for no reason is not inconsiderate, but referring to those drivers as clowns on an internet forum IS inconsiderate and therefore not within the law of the road? I'm not sure how that works, really. It's quite a leap in logic.

How do you even drive 'inconsiderately' behind someone?  By tailgating or having your lights on high beam? Both are covered by specific regulations.

I'd be interested to know how often the inconsiderate driving rule is enforced and in response to what?

Two lane highway. Someone in the left lane doing 20k under the limit isn't inconsiderate at all. Thats the point. Its completely different to you being blocked. My reference to trucks and trailers was because they have to do under a 100k limit (and the original discussion was about a  motorway with presumably a 100k limit.

Thats all, you need to focus your ire on those deserving, anyone in any lane doing under the speed limit isn't deserving.

You still haven't read my post. You really should. I described a situation where I'm in the right hand lane wanting to do 80k (the limit) and the person in front is doing 60k. Someone asked what's happening in the left lane and I put forward the possibility of the left lane being occupied by someone doing 60k. With me so far?

So what is the problem with a person in the left lane doing 60k? Well how do you suppose the person in front of me is going to change into the left lane?

Trucks and trailers has absolutely nothing to do with my post. You're just inserting that to mischaracterise my driving as inconsiderate. That's a disingenuous thing to do, as I've never complained about trucks or trailers. So cut it out, eh?

Okay that's enough of the bickering, folks.

Speaking of muppets, my dad was doing a right hand turn at a set of traffic lights recently. One lane turning right, he had the green light. Some muppet (who could reasonably be called a clown, if that isn't too inconsiderate) came around my dad's car on the left and tried to insert himself between my dad's car and the one in front as my dad is turning the corner. This was followed by a 4wd doing the same thing! One of them hit my dad's car (can't remember which one) and they both took off at high speed so no time to get a number plate. It sounds like maybe one car was chasing the other. In any case, it gave my dad cause to have some ire, but please don't report that to the police, lest they prosecute him for directing ire in a manner inconsiderate to other drivers laughing

Sounds like I need to recommend a dashcam to him.

evnafets: Auckland's Ellerslie/Panmure highway this morning heading towards Panmure, some muppet was making a right turn into the Z Petrol station.

The one which specifically has a "no right turn" clearly indicated...

I frequently see people turning left into a "no left turn" here in Whakatane. Also on the way home today I saw someone turn into a one-way alley, then reverse back out. Why? Because some clown is coming out in the wrong direction. However, as soon as the clown was out of the way, the first person then barged right in instead of giving way to me.

So much for Road Safety Week...

Witnessed someone driving west in the Bus Only part of Manners St at lunchtime today, then he tried to turn right into Victoria St!  AKA the wrong way into a one way street.  Both the bus in his lane and the one on the opposite side managed to beep their horns and gesticulate enough for him to change his mind.

Looking at Streetview and an L plated people mover is almost doing the same thing.  They need to make the signs a bit clearer around there, or put in those bollards that only retract for buses.  And make sure there's a high quality camera monitoring, like this.

Why would they even do that? I'd make the person going the wrong way back out for the purposes of correction. They'd think twice about doing it next time.
