Saw a lot of parents letting their young kids ride them around Wynyard Quarter yesterday - some of them were too short to see over the handle bars!

Its just a matter of time before someone under 18 gets hurt - not Lime's fault at all....

wait.. so the wind blew the kid off the scooter and it's the scooters fault?

last i checked, when someone gets blown off a bike, they put their leg out and just.... stand up? surely the same doesn't work on a scooter!

I'd be a juicer if they had swappable batteries, so I could charge with solar power and not have to cart them home and back.

There was one left outside work today so finally got around to adding my visa to the app and giving it a go. Cant go up works driveway with me on it. Can just do it with one of the other guys. If it was earlier in the day I might have taken it up to the lunchbar. Seems OK but lack of them around means that I cant count on one being outside work when needed. As greenpeace is next door I would expect that they would take them all the time anyway.

I gave one a go after work today, making the most of being in Akld this week.

I was surprised at the height of the handlebars, and would have thought this alone would make them unsuitable for younger people. The scooter reported a top speed of 29km, but TBH it never felt that fast to me - if that speed is accurate I'm glad I didn't come off!

Couldn't find any cruise control, which is a useful feature some models have. Brakes aren't amazing (stop ok, just not a great feel to them), nor is the fairly harsh ride over anything not totally flat. Also damn heavy, and I'd not be wanting to push or ride a flat one for very long.

$6 for 19 minutes means it's certainly not cheap.

That all said, I'm still pretty keen on buying one! Container Door have confirmed they'll have the Mi M365 listed again in a week or two, and hopefully that won't close before the Mi store opens and we get a sense as to what they'll charge for the same.

Part of the role of a juicer is to return them to designated base points each morning, Lime don't want them staying spread out like Onzos

Although speaking of Onzo, it looks like Auckland is going to be overrun by e-scooters...

Onzo, which also runs a bicycle sharing programme, also plans to launch up to 2500 e-scooters in the city. Onzo's chief growth officer, Min-Kyu Jung, said they were expected to arrive in October but there had been a delay in shipment.

On this topic. I have seen plenty of unsafe damaged onzo bikes, No one seems to pick them up or repair them and they end up in the hands of random people modifying them or just putting them in a skip bin..

Well, to venture an opinion....

Scooters are children's toys. Kidults using them look a bit, well, silly to be honest. It is hardly surprising children want to use something designed originally for children.

JMO of course and I expect it to be outside the mainstream!

Saw a lady in Wynyard Quarter this morning nearly go arse over tit; completely misjudged a driveway ramp and kerb and hit the kerb upstand far too fast and hard... She managed to get her feet down and looked rather embarressed and shaken with herself... I'm expecting to see so many issues on my ride home with these about.

Watched a guy this afternoon completely wipe out two ladies leaving a shop. He was going way too fast and poleaxed the first one, she in turn crunched the other one standing next to her.

Old mate picked himself up, said sorry and was off in a shot while people around them were assisting with the lady that got hit.......they need some changes made for sure
