About the same pricing of the EV6 but inferior specs. I think might be a hard sell
afe66: ? Battery size
I checked that, both are 64.3kWh

shk292: The Light version looks quite good value and doesn't seem to miss out any important features or performance compared with the more expensive one.
This is in contrast to the EV6, where if you want the longer range battery you go over the 80k threshold. Also interesting to note that the Niro has better acceleration than the EV6, presumably because its lighter but has the 150kw motor.
This looks like a good option to me, I have a BYD reserved but didn't like the seats in that.
The other Kia worth a look is the Niro Plus, which is based on the previous Niro EV but with a raised roofline and more interior space. It's slightly less expensive than the new Niro
There are a few convenience features which I would miss on the Light. Most of which are available on the BYD.And halogen versus LED lights. I didnt find the seats to be an issue at all but that's a personal preference factor.

Have to disagree sorry.
Prior to the price hike, when the EV6 air LR was in rebate range, yeah, but since the EV6 price hike several weeks back, the only EV6 under the rebate cap is the $77,990 + ORC air standard range.
125kW, 394km WLTP range, 16.6kWh/100km, 5.81m turn radius.
For comparison the ENiro EV is 150kW, 460km WLTP range, 16.2kWh/100km, 5.3m turn radius.
They are quite different offerings, is quite different size brackets.
Personally I think the EV6 is more intersting, and is a much bigger car, and gets some nice features, like the 16A 230V AC out ability, 800v fast charge, 750kg braked towing, and (I think that there is an error in the NZ spec sheet) a bigger frunk.
But for the lesser price, the niro gets substantially more power and range, similar boot space (475L vs 480L), is more energy efficient, smaller and easier to park, much tighter turning circle, Branded sound system & composite leather seats on the "Water" trim. Also those 215/55 R17 tires are going to be much cheaper to replace than the 235 / 55R19 tires on the EV6 base.
For those looking at the base Niro EV light, the car is a full $10k cheaper, which kinda put it in a different price bracket. Note that the Niro EV light is a fairly basic spec with Halogen headlights, manual drivers seat etc, vs the EV6 air with LED headlights, power drivers seat etc.
Sucks that kia couldn't sustain the original pricing of the EV6, with the 530km range Air RWD Long range under the rebate cap.
Interesting UK comparison of Audil Skoda and VW ID4. Spoiler alert the VW came last

for the consumer, it may not be which is better, but which you can actually buy

Local dealer said Light is in stock now. $67,990 before rebate with delivery mid Sept. After that the prices go up but he didn't say how much.
Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD. https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
