Maybe because the flash of light given off when something goes wrong is a blue-ish white? 😁

martyyn:gzt: Did you manage to get one with the same panel colour all around?Yep, it's all black except for a silver stripe across the top of the windows and the blue sill. I'm thinking of tinting the windows and going for one of the new black plates.

You clearly need to learn to read all of a post more carefully before reaching for your gun…
Plus Toyota has associated blue with its hybrid system for yonks. Mercedes seemed to have initially linked blue with its EVs when it launched the EQ range. And I've just remembered the VW blue association from ages back - Bluemotion. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are others... The use by VW and Toyota show that it's not solely an EV thing but to connote eco-friendliness in the car space.
Why would a $160,000+ NZD SUV outsell the RWD Model Y? It is more than twice as expensive.
Seriously doubt there will be truely high numbers of this car on NZ roads. Will it sell? Sure! Will it be a best seller: Highly doubtful.
BTW: If this car had the efficiency of a Model Y it would have a range of up to 825km, not 611km (Both WLTP as far as I can tell).
And am I the only one that think that rear is pretty ugly?

insane:
Is it just me or do you also think this will outsell model Y when it finally lands?
As mentioned in the above comment, the polestar 3 is an expensive car.
For comparison, a base polestar 2 is GBP 43,5150 in the UK, and $76,900 in NZ.
Scaling the GBP 80k by the same ratio gives NZD142,572.
This price-point means the car is solidly outside the mass market. And at that price point, there is some serious competition.
EV6 GT will come in around that price point, and is substantially more powerful & faster. EV6 has 186km less rated range, but does get 800v fast charging (unlike the polestar 3).
Currently, the BMW iX xDrive50 offers the closest match of range and performance (630km range, 4.6s 0-100, 2500kg tow rating), but that is a $200k car.
insane:
Sure it's not exactly cheap starting at 80k UK Pounds, but wow it's finally a EV SUV that looks properly brilliant, and has both range and performance.
brilliant - umm it looks just like every other EV
range - pretty average for 111kw (though yet to be tested in real life)
performance - 4.5s is pretty average for an EV!
so -
Average in all 3 areas. not bad, but nothing amazing
insane: Just noticed the first overview of the Polstar 3 SUV EV
110KW battery and 360KW motors.
Is it just me or do you also think this will outsell model Y when it finally lands?
It's just you.

/ unless you mean outsell the Model Y Performance - then maybe, but i don't know why you'd pay 60k more for a slower car if you're buying it for the 0-100 times. but it does look better and it has more butttons, and will have better insulation and suspension so maybe it might be worth the money, but it's still a very different price point, it's a completely different market.
for looks yes hands down vs MYP but there are other cars to buy at that price point. if i were a gambling person then I'd say people will by more Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsches for $160,000, but at $160,000 the Polestar would have the longest range (for now?). might all come down to availability i'd say.
all in all, competition and choice is all the more better for the buyers. the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.

It may outsell the Model Y Performance, in the year that it arrives here. But as I mentioned, when I first posted about its launch, the P3 is in the same market as the eTron,
and the iPace,
and the EQC
and even the iX3, i4M50 and iX.
By the time it gets here there will be more EVs available in NZ from Volvo, Audi, VW, and Skoda. Let alone new ‘affordable’ models from BYD, Ford, Kia, etc.
When you listen to the media reviewers breathlessly going through the kit in the Polestar 3, you can see why it is not a cheap car.
