trig42: What I find more annoying, and I hope they fix it with a software update at some point, is the slowing down on bends when in Cruise Control. I don't mind slight slowing, but it's quite noticeable (maybe that is because I have regen on 3 and it's just releasing the 'throttle'?). It's no deal breaker, but it must be annoying for following cars.

Yep, the MG4 is far too cautious with its speed through corners (while Teslas are too confident!); the worst of it can be compensated for by overriding the slowing down via the accelerator, but it really does need to be sorted to be a truly useful ACC.

While also AC on the right for me, I’ve gone with drive mode on the left - I’m used to the regen setting and OPD in a Tesla so am used to not changing regen. Love the AC steering wheel controls and wish Tesla would add this.

My hope is that MG add additional functions to the shortcut buttons - only three options for two buttons! If they’re not going to allow OPD to be left on by default adding this as a shortcut would be great…

There’s a seamingly random bug with the left-hand shortcut button, and perhaps only on the Excite, where the programmed function disappears (ie pressing the button does nothing) and it requires re-selecting from the menu. This has happened at least three times to me - anyone else experienced it?

Funnily enough I noticed the exact same thing today in our Excite 51.

Does anyone know if having Regen on Adaptive makes it work better with Adaptive Cruise Control?

If you watch a few of Bjorn Nyland's reviews, you'll see it's a very common complaint of his about Chinese EVs. A lot of them slow down even in slight curves rather than holding speed. Given that I wouldn't hold out for it being corrected.

They've probably seen this and are properly careful.

Hey all, I've had a quick search and couldn't easily find a similar question so my apologies if it has been asked.

We've got an MG4 on the way, and I'm wondering about adding dash cameras to it as it'll be our daily driver with two small children in the back.

Is there anything I should know / look out for when it comes to adding a dash cam to an EV? Also do you know of any good installers in Christchurch?

It's a bit of an open question sorry, but this is all new to us and I thought it best to ask people with much more knowledge than us 😁

Don't know a specific answer sorry, but I don't imagine it'll be difficult - it's still a 12V system, and there is a fuse box in the normal place.

I'd loke to get one installed in mine as well.

These types of results should put concerns about the life of modern car batteries to rest.  Hopefully with further improvements to come.

https://insideevs.com/news/693831/volkswagen-id3-still-has-93-percent-battery-capacity-after-62000-mile-tough-test/

Had a ride in a hybrid Camry taxi a couple of weeks ago.  Eight years old & done over 500,000 km, purportedly without a single fault.  Hopefully modern EVs with fewer wear points will see similar life expectancies?

If you talk to the sales person and/or business manager at your dealership (which I assume is CMG as you are in Christchurch), they can arrange purchase / fitting of the cameras

It's 'ok'. I haven't had a lot of time with it - drove from Hamilton to home (about 60k) on Saturday and drove home to Auckland in the crap weather early this morning (about 125k, SH2 & Southern Motorway). So far, it doesn't feel as nice as the Kia it replaced, but it nudged me into the centre of the lane a couple of times. When I get a chance, on an empty road on a decent day, I'll test it a bit further - letting the wheel go and see how it gets me around corners.

Interesting - I assume its largely the same as the software in the ZS, which we turned off nearly immediately as it was like driving a pinball machine. The slightest wander and it would be pointing you at the opposite line and then back again. Strangely, after my wife found the autosteer (as opposed to lane keeping assist) she decided that that was fine. Only the lane assist is dumb.

I had a rental one and it's the first rental car I've genuinely wanted to return straight away. The lane assist was incredibly aggressive. And had to be turned off each time, but could only be done so in park, via a touch screen.

And I couldn't make calls and adjust the aircon at the same time, it was just so strange!

In the ZS there is a USB port on the right hand side of the rear view mirror - no data, it's power only, specifically for a dash cam or similar. I suppose the 4 would be the same?

For some reason they haven't done the same for the 4

Just checking that the lack of a USB port is across all models of the MG4, not just missed off the Excite?

Today there was a massive upgrade to the charging infrastructure in the Marlborough area, with three chargers activated which can output 150kW to five CCS vehicles, and 50kw to one CHAdeMO. Admin is via ChargeNet.

This is a separate installation to the three Tesla Superchargers which are yet to be installed.

This definitely fills a deperately needed gap with charging options for the area, and will be a great resource for those traveling inter-island.
