I don't imagine it'll be difficult. It's a 12V system, and the fuse panel is in the normal place.

I'd like to get one in mine as well, so let us know how you go.

In the ZS there is a USB port on the right hand side of the rear view mirror - no data, it's power only, specifically for a dash cam or similar. I suppose the 4 would be the same?

Worth checking whether this port is permanently powered, or just when the car is switched on, as is the case with any power source for a dashcam if the device has a 'parked' mode.

I see it has the Brodozer look favoured by the prospective clientele...

I am tracking electric car prices to buy a cheap second hand runabout for my wife. My impression is that prices are going down but I am unsure whether to wait a bit or buy now. Looking at something like a 2018 BMW i3. What do we think?

Well, if you want to take advantage of the rebate, buying before the end of the year makes sense. We definitely brought forward the replacement of our second EV so as to not miss out on $7k. While the s/h rebate is half that, it's still something to consider.

If you're wanting to spend i3 money, I would recommend also looking at the Hyundai Ioniq. The i3's tend to be Japanese imports while the Ioniqs are nearly always NZ new and will still have their battery warranty from Hyundai. The Hyundai also has faster DC charging capabilities and is a bigger car (which could also be a negative depending on what you're wanting)

Loving our new Skoda Enyaq (first EV).

Have realised there are a lot more Type 2 charging stations with "bring your own cable" than fast or hyper-charging CCS stations in regional NZ. So, I'm looking to pick up a Type 2 cable.

There are lots of 32A 400V 22kW Type 2-Type 2 cables out there for around $250-$299. Are there any recommended ones / sellers, or are they all much of a much?

I got ours from OEM Audio; they're good quality and ship locally.

Your Enyaq should be capable of three phase charging at 11kw - which will include some Tesla destination chargers. However you will find that might limit you to 4.5 amps on a single-phase type 2 station. A single-phase cable should give you 7kw.

I'm a little surprised that your Enyaq didn't come with a Type 2 to Type 2 cable when you got it?

Amazing what you find when you look under the boot mat 😊

Thanks for saving a couple of hundred!

I think it's because I'd read somewhere on on overseas review that Skoda only gave you the granny charger, and the Type 2 cable wasn't mentioned in Gavin's NZ review.

... and I think I was too excited in the showroom picking the car up, that I glossed over the sales rep. pointing it out 😁

Congrats @sultanoswing on the new EV! Which colour and spec Enyaq did you get and how long was the wait time from ordering to delivery?

A neighbour a few homes up from us has the Arctic Silver colour Enyaq. It looks meh on the PC monitor but in person when I walk past it, it looks amazing especially when the sun is out. It's a very striking and different colour.

If it's the same as the standard-issue ID4 one, it will be the three phase 32amp one. So you'll only get 4.5kw on a standard single-phase 32amp charger, but on a public three-phase BYOC station you should be able to get 10 -11kw.

I must lead a sheltered existence. My Type 2 cable has been out of its case exactly once in the 20 months I’ve had an EV. And even that was out of curiosity more than necessity at a destination charger while I attended a meeting.

Now that EVNex only offer a tethered EVSE there’s even less use for it. A bit like the spare tire I don’t have, you don’t need a Type 2 cable…….until you do.

Two supermarkets I shop at have BYO cable AC chargers. Do I ever neeeeeed to charge at them? No. But since I have the cable, it'd be dumb not to. Same as at your meeting.

That's disappointing. The one I bought is 32A on all three phases which means you get 7.6kW single-phase.
