And of course, men, who may drive badly when young but are of course perfect from then on.

I see plenty of women (young and old) driving poorly.

That was sarcasm.....it's not just young men, is my point.

I failed to detect your sarcasm

It's a pity the FUG won't allow me to call these two morons all the names they deserve:

I was moved to write to the Minister following the recent 'road toll' this last weekend.

I made a number of suggestions, none of which I expect to be implemented. They would be very likely to make NZ roads a safer place to be if they were though.

Did my first *555 report bad driver this weekend. Travelling to Taupo alone Pyes Pa road thru to Tauranga Direct Road which include very winding, hilly, narrow and blind corners and single lane bridges. Most of this stretch is single or double yellows. The muppet kept wandering across these lines and cutting corners even on blind bends. Driver was very lucky there was not very much traffic and what traffic there was, drove safely. The offender pulled in at Ngongotaha just as we were reporting to *555. They also asked that I fill out the online report form which I did.
Some people just have death wish. This driver was very lucky.

In a bout of irony to ablove. The 'online' report clearly states it likely won't be pursed. Even more so if video evidence is provided. Let alone opened.

If you want something to come of it, you have to make the effort to fill out an official complaint at a station!

Which is a kicker, when a video can show dangerous driving more than the word of someone calling it in. Had an officer being on the side of the road for this, I'm pretty sure both drivers would be impounded for racing

I was startled as a did a rear vision check and had no idea where to go to avoid being hit.

In an addition to the above I spotted this in the BoP Times 12th Nov there was this article with dash cam video: 'Totally dangerous' behaviour on SH36 between Tauranga and Rotorua prompts police action

Then in today's BoP Times the conclusion appeared on page 3 (sorry no online link):

OVERTAKING PUNISHED: The driver of a black ute filmed on SH36 between Rotorua and Tauranga overtaking on double yellow lines has been identified by police, receiving two tickets plus 35 demerit points. A three-month driving suspension was also imposed because the demerit points took the driver over the standard threshold.

This is what it looks like when an idiot truckie decides to use Lane 1 as an undertaking lane in heavy traffic (but still doing 80kmh), with no regard to how to merge back in, worthy of note is that he was in Lane 2 and pulled deliberately left into Lane 1 just as the "Lane Ends in 200m" sign becomes visible as you approach the Albany Highway exit area...

Still, one benefit is that I found my rear cam had obviously been knocked and was aimed too low to be useful so at least I've got that corrected.

Long report submitted, as a Truckie I guess it will go to his employer so no idea if they care or not...

We once complained to fonterra about one of their trucks who pulled in front of us on an open highway requiring some heavy braking on our part--- and they defended their driver. Said we could have still gone past on the left hand side of the truck -- technically true but I thought too risky.   I guess the truckie knew we'd complain as they seemed to know about the incident.

The annoying thing is that there was noone behind us so he could have waited just a few more seconds and we'd have been past.

I would have submitted the webcam footage to police if I had one at the time :)

I've done that in the past (See the Waterview Tunnel footage I posted earlier in this thread), to my knowledge no action taken, though they did indicate both cars who brought SH16 nearly to a standstill were registered at the same address so the cops had done <something>.

It will continue to get worse until dash cam footage is taken seriously as evidence.

Incase anyone had actually missed it..

Please note that, as an informal report, video or photo evidence is not required and consequently any such submitted file or attachments will not be opened or viewed.

Doesn't that then indicate.. it does nothing (unless there are a crapload for the same punter and raises a flag..?)

So I guess if it makes enough of a fuss in the media that ticks the box 0.o

The only way to action video. Or to slap a wrist, Is to POST a form in! (or see a station and agree to stand up in court) -

If you want the incident to be investigated with a view to the offender being prosecutedyou must lodge a formal complaint at your nearest police station.

Or just send to Herald or Stuff and wait for the police to jump into action because it's now in The News and it Went Viral!
