All features found on modern ICE vehicles too.

Headlight pixel intelligence like this?

Yep. Holden fitted these to some of their models back in 2018 or there abouts. https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/general-motors-technology/gm-lighting-technology/gm-intellilux-led-lighting-technology/

I think you'll find other manufacturers have something similar.

Most European cars, ICE or EV, have had them for a while.

Latest sales stats are out, and it looks like that crash in January wasn't a random fluctuation coincidental to the end of the EV rebate after all.

It will be interesting this month as the “demo” cars that dealers registered in December and collected the rebate on, can be legally sold after the 90 day stand down. There was an article in the paper the other day about a dealer who was offering a ex-demo vehicle within this period.

The article was on the back of an EV owner who got upset that the value of his 2nd hand vehicle was competing with "demos". The dealer was clearly in the wrong however. We have been clear on our demo stock to the sales managers, fortunately we had earlier registered demos / loan cars that we could swap around.

It will be interesting to see what the big players do in the market (MG, BYD, Tesla, GWM & Kia) in regards to pricing, they can't do nothing.

Might it have anything to do with the incoming EV RUC?

As has been mentioned, anyone who was looking to buy an EV from October last year to July this year, would've bought it before the rebate ended. Where as anyone who was looking to replace a petrol or diesel vehicle with the same type of vehicle would've waited for the fee to end.

There has been too short of a time frame post rebate/fee to see where the market is going.

As much as there appears to be a doom and gloom about RUC coming in, and EV being charged at home is still a lot cheaper to run than the equivalent petrol or diesel vehicle. Using exclusively fast public chargers is still cheaper than running diesel or petrol, with the added advantage of knowing the price of your fuel doesn't go up and down every week.

Motor Industry Association submits proposed EV RUC charges are not equitable for EV

Stuff: The MIA’s proposed adjustments to RUC would see charges for EVs drop from $76 per 1000km to $60 (including GST), and charges for plug-in hybrids drop from $53 per 1000km to $42. Wiley noted that the figures are based on averages calculated across the country’s new-vehicle fleet from the last two years of sales.

Sensible although still unfortunate for older plugin hybrids as they point out.

Are you sure about that when you include RUC's? Some figures I did a while back using figures provided by an EV owner showed there wasn't much in it and petrol might actually be cheaper in some cases. Sure the price fluctuations of fuel and the variation in prices around the country could certainly swing things in favour of an EV in some situations.

Interesting comparison wrt CO2 emissions between some EV's and the Ford Ranger.

Spoiler; In Australia the Ranger has lower emissions.

On the Genesis EV plan, I pay my home power rate at public chargers, which is awesome. Recently put 200km-ish in my car at the 300kW hypercharger at Kaiwaka for about $12.

That doesn't pass the sniff test. What is the main summary of the argument that the Ranger has lower CO2 emissions?

Might watch it later but going to go out on a limb and suggest he has included all the materials costs of creating a battery, assumed it will be powered 100% from coal which isn't true even in Australia, and then omitted all the extraction, transport and refining costs of the diesel.
