As much as the model isn't advertised you purchased an Air AWD.

I wonder of the timing of the ebrake engagement is a software tweak that could be reduced with an software update? How are you finding the boot space?

Unsure, a quick Google shows I'm not alone with this lack of auto engage of the e-brake, I'm sure a firmware update might work but who knows.

The boot is really long, but the slope back means you can't fit tall items. I purchased a booster seat for my child in the weekend and put it in the boot, I was worried that it'll slide back and smash the rear windscreen.

Rear leg room is MUCH better than the rav4 (2021 model)

The curve down on the roof edge makes putting a car seat in difficult tho.

$88,990. The salesman said Kia only brought in 20 of them as a "let's test the waters", and found it made no sense because, for $94,990 you can get the Earth model which is much better. So they didn't bring anymore in and it's not listed on the Kia website

Mrs Edge is exactly the same!!  Saw a Stonic in the showroom in Urban Yellow and thought it would make a good shopping basket :-) We settled on a Deep Forest Green Earth model instead.  As with comments above, we couldn't see justification (for our preferences) for the GT-Line "upgrade".

The GTLine upgrades are acceleration and improved junction anti-collision detection! The burst of power would do at times, but even the Earth will provide ample acceleration.

Earth accelerates same as GT-Line 🙂- 5.2 to 100k.  Some key additions in the GT-Line (there are a few others) are improved headlights, Meridian sound system, "active sound design", heat pump, mood lighting (!) and ventilated front seats.  I made a list and figured we could do without all of those for $12k extra :-)  Others, of course, may have a different opinion!

Well, nothing else to discuss. Waiting! Waiting for October, for delivery.

My mind wandered to the PoleStar 2 for all of two mins, that boot is horrid!

Been overseas for a while, so have not been active here. Good to see I am not the only person who likes the EV6.

I'm with you, those updates aren't worth the 12k.

Confusion likely would have been Between the EV6 GT (Not yet available in NZ, 0-100 in about 3.5sec), and the EV6 GT-Line. (current top trim, 0-100 in the 5.3sec mentioned). Don't know why car brands name their trim levels so similar.

On Higher trims a general rule, auto makers run higher margins on high trim's, so they typically represent less value, But of course, if you simply must have one of the features only offered on the GT-line, that is your only option. Also it is common for top trims weigh more (with the same GVM), meaning less payload and performance than the versions with the same drive train, and often come with bigger wheels & lower profile tires (Often more weight, more drag, less ride comfort, more damage prone, and more expensive to replace tires)

On the GT-Line Price jump above the earth is significant as you say, But do note it is a very different visual package. Personally as look as the looks are acceptable I'm not to fussed, but some people would upgrade for this reason alone. Didn't pay to much attention between the air and GT-line in the showroom (Pretty much only interested in this car as the Air RWD LR is within the rebate price cap), but here is an article that goes over the Korean spec appearance in detail:

Note the different lower bumper, and body colored wheel arches on the GT line.

In terms of pure spec, I is quite different but again, I could not justify the price of anything that is above the Rebate price cap, so was only looking at Air. Will list the stuff covered already first:

  • Improved headlights "Dual LED headlights with adaptive driving beam" - Lights are something some people are really picky about. I quite like the "peer around the corner" HID dip beam lights on my Lexus RX - and the incandescent low beams on our leaf just suck. Sounds like the EV6 system doesn't peer around corners, but actively blocks out bits of light where vehicles are, rather than the standard blocking chunk of light where the oncoming lane typically is. Sounds cleaver, but reviews seem overall disappointed with the system in the GT-Line. Fortunately all trims of the EV6 get LED headlights, unlike the likes of the Kona Electric, where the base makes do with halogens.
  • Meridian sound system - Some people will pay good money for premium sound - and for some, the only option with a sub being the high prices GT-line would see them shopping other brands. Personally found the 6 speaker system fine for my needs (after I reset the equalizer as somebody before me had seriously messed with it) - Don't think I have interest in fake driving sound coming through the audio system.
  • Heat pump - Should be standard in NZ... Come on, we are not Aussie. Can see hot it could have been committed from the RWD to save cost and stay under the magic $80k, but no excuse for it not being fitted on the AWD trims.
  • Mood lighting - will be cheap to add, personally don't care for it (spouses parents have it on their van, and it don't get used).
  • Ventilated front seats - nice feature (especially on an EV where one might be skimping on Air Conditioning if they are doing a run that is near the limit of their range). Family member has it on their Kona Electric elite, and loves it.
  • Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) - Crossing -not sure what this is, but some people will tick every safety box they can.
  • Laminated front windows - Interesting to have differing glass by trim. Gives acoustic (can hear less outside noise) and safety benefits, both of which are desirable. All modern windscreens are laminated, so you are getting the advantages on the side windows too (holds together if smashed, keeping occupant limbs etc inside, and (smallish) objects outside. Has downsides too (more weight, and much harder smash and exit through in an emergency)
  • Optional sunroof (additional cost) - Personally give me the weight savings, greater head room, and eliminate any potential leaks with a conventional roof, but some people do love their sun roof's.
  • Synthetic suede seats - Personal taste really
  • Aluminium Sports pedals - Don't look at my feat really, but guess they were cheap to add.
  • Minor aesthetic changes like scuff plates, compost leather center box - Would make me feel good that the top spec is differentiated, if I paid that money, but don't offer any real value.
  •

Moot points or Negatives:

  • 20" Wheels & 255 /45 R20 tires (vs 19" & 235/55R19 tires) - Better looks from bigger rims, perhaps more grip from extra width, and tighter handling feel from lower profile. But less efficient, heavier (more rotational inertia & Unsprung mass), less comfortable, more damage prone (big deal considering no spare is carried), and likely more expensive to replace
  • 15mm longer, 10mm wider - used for styling pack, which would look nicer, but means that car is that much bigger to fit in car parks etc.
  • Worse efficiency (18kWh/100km vs 17.2kWh/100km from the Earth AWD, and 16.5kWh/100km from the Air RWD) - This flows on to lesser range, slightly slower (in km/time terms) charging, slightly running costs etc. Difference in the GT-line and the Earth AWD is likely to be almost entirely the wheels / tires. The tires are 20mm wider, which is 7.5%.
  • Heavier - While matching 2254kg tare weights are shown on the spec sheet (wow), stuff like bigger wheels, heat pump, laminated glass, ventilated seats and sunroof (if fitted) all adds to weight, so either the earth will come in under weight, or the GT-line overweight. Heavier means lesser performance, more tire wear etc.
  • Loss of the sub boot tub area (occupied by the sub woofer), meaning leas cargo space.

Interesting to note that the 52L frunk on the RWD models has been revised down to 20L.

https://kia.co.nz/vehicles/kia-ev6/range-and-specifications/

Wonder if this is a spec sheet only change, to prevent loss of up-sales to people put off by the smaller Frunk on AWD trims, and the RWD still gets the 52L frunk, or if a design change has been made that compromises the capacity of the RWD Frunk.

If the car electronics are of a similar quality to the hi fi electronics you could easily account for most of that just on the Meridian gear.

Another change to the spec is the change of "External Vehicle-To-Load" from being included on the GT line, and not on other spec's, to capability being included on all spec's, but the piece being optional.

Makes sense I think. Most people will be fine with running a cord from the internal 230v socket, but might as well have the piece that make's the external socket (plugs into charging port) available for those who want it.

I'm seriously considering the LR RWD as I will be towing a lightweight caravan (around 1100kg) and couldn't find another EV that had the towing capability I need and still get the clean car rebate.

To those that have ordered,  has anyone been offered capped service fees by the dealer and if so how much?

Cheers
