Does anyone have any insight into the waterproofness of the M365, I remember a YT video which said basically the battery and electronics compartment was not particularly waterproof but that video may have been a way of justifying the aftermarket covers.

I wonder if anyone bothers to add silicon along the case gaps for example?

I don't feel particularly good about using one in the rain and thus far have avoided using it entirely when wet. This will change when I will have to rely upon it for commuting entirely.

Based on my research the weak point appears to be the power button.  Apart from that they seem pretty bulletproof.  There are some overseas sites offering 3D printed rubber covers that stop water from leaking into the electronics.  I've just ordered one, so I'll report back once it arrives.

Obviously you wouldn't want to submerse the battery pack or charging jack in a puddle, but that's usually avoidable even in heavy rain.  Looking at the Bird version of the M365 it appears identical to stock apart from the power console, and they're left out in the elements (albeit maybe in drier climates than NZ).

Looks like a new model was announced today with greater range at 45km and weighs 14.2 kg. And it has already been spotted on Auckland's pink cycleway

Hi,

Has anyone managed to add an additional battery?

Using the Y method looks relatively straightforward however I can't find anywhere in New Zealand that sells batteries big enough...

A guide was following recommended the below on Aliexpress, which wont ship to New Zealand.

VariCore 12V 20Ah 18650 Lithium Battery Pack 12.6v 20000mah Capacity Miner's Lamp 100w 800W High power Batteries with

They're not particularly water-tight.

Light showers will likely fry the top board and gong through puddles will fry the battery compartment componentry.

Plenty of advice on how to best water-proof these bad boys online - I belong to a number of facebook groups dedicated to M365's nd eScooters and they all cover the same topics - make sure the power button is covered and the battery compartment is sealed, as well as the ingress points where the wires go into the body.

Many use liquid rubber or similar for the ingress points and there are covers you can buy for the power button. The battery compartment can be sealed relatively easily, as well.

Over the past couple of weeks my M365 has started to develop a worrying degree of flex at the point of the folding joint; while I've poked and prodded at various bolts, and moved up to a larger 3d printed 'cushion' on the joint, the flex seems to be no better (it's a forwards/backwards flex, ie with the direction of the hinge, not sideways). It's a real worry given I've only used as my 'daily drive' for around two months, and at this rate it'll be unrideable in a few months.

While I do have hopes to move to a more robust and sprung scooter (eg a Xero 10) at some point, I'd rather keep my Mi in good working condition for either resale value or to pass onto my son

I'm completely unmechanical so have no real clue what I should be doing; have any users (eg @Handsomedan, given you mention you frequent e-scooter forums) got any advice (or a good source of such advice) to deal to such problems?

I also have a flex in mine, I believe I found where the flex originated. It isn’t where the fold is, it is at the bottom of the vertical pole, under the plastic lock. You can take the plastic bit off and then on the front there is a bolt. I tightened this bolt and it stopped the flex, but it did come back after a ride...

Yes - there's a few chaps (and chapettes) on Facestalker group "M365 Electric Scooter" who have replaced the hinge unit with  sturdier steel unit from Aliexpress or from a dude in London that ships internationally.

Apparently it's a pig to swap out, but once done reduces or eliminates flex and the inevitable snapping.

New M365 owner here, I love getting around Wellington on this thing! I've decided I'd rather stick with stock firmware for now, and I'm wondering what (if any) improvements I'd get with the new 1.5.1 firmware that the Mi app wants me to install? It's on 1.4.2 right now.

I'm on a number of M365 groups/forums and can't find any changelogs or details as yet...

Hi Guys,

This is my first time here and I do hope to get a piece of advise from you.

I got my Mi scooter in December, was super happy with it. I've been riding every day from my house in Greenlane to the office in Penrose. Until last week when I fell off it:( Got my face smashed as well as knees and etc..but the worst thing was my pretty scooter got damaged as well. It started acting really funny kind of a rear wheel is blocked- I can't ride it! Feels like I press brakes handle all the time. Moreover, it started making very annoying sound (like high frequency sound). I'm totally lost. The vendor (Mi store) told it would take up a few weeks to repair but I can't wait. I need it as public transport is super inconvenient in that area...

Do you know anyone (or maybe anyone of you) here in Auckland who can inspect/repair it ASAP?

Would appreciate any help.

Cheers!

It looks like the Xiaomi M365 Scooter firmware update 1.5.1 locks out third party apps. Worth avoiding the upgrade until its circumvented if you use them!

https://www.reddit.com/r/ElectricScooters/comments/b2uhg1/m365_firmware_update_151/

WARNING: DON'T Upgrade Your Scooter To Firmware Version 1.5.1+ If You’d Like To Use Any Of The Non-Official Apps.

The 1.5.1 update supposedly addresses the scooter Bluetooth hacking issue (how secure it actually is now remains to be seen). It is now encrypting the communication, a process which will take time to figure out.

NOTE 1: It is very easy to accidentally install a new firmware when you launch the Mi Home app. Read all messages carefully!

NOTE 2: The 1.5.1 firmware is difficult to downgrade from. At the moment, the only way to downgrade is with an ST-Link accessory.

NOTE 3: The 1.5.1 firmware requires your phone to be connected to the internet every time you launch the Mi Home app (currently the only supported app) and connect to the scooter.

Hi,

The nut that screws on to the end of the bolt on folding mechanism has fallen off - any idea where in NZ I source spare parts from? Tried the Xiaomi store in Sylvia park but they had no idea.

When I was trying to find spare parts in NZ I couldn't (I needed a wheel) but I found on Aliexpress. Maybe have a look in there

Yeah, it's really disappointing that PB Tech/Xiaomi seem really poor in terms of supplying parts for these scooters - it would be interesting to see how they manage repairs under the CGA, given the requirement in relation to providing parts for an appropriate length of time etc.

I was looking for a particular accessory for the new scooter I'm getting (a Zero), and it seemed like that particular Singapore retailer sold replacements for about every single part of their scooters; surely companies like PB Tech/Xiaomi could be providing such a service to order any part of the M365, even if for some parts there may be a wait if they're not in the country. Consumers shouldn't be having to turn to overseas sites to order parts for a product sold by a main-street retailer in NZ.
