Dammit people.  Can you not post in "deals" if it is not a deal.   A lot of us have a watch on it for deals so all you are doing is spamming people.  Deals are for "deals" not questions.

Don't go for a cheap 7 plate battery if you are planning on keeping the car

A cheap battery will just cost you more in a few months.
Buy a Century Yuasa or Exide from a reputable retailer.

Pricespy maybe able to help, If you know someone at a dealership you could get a Din60 for about $120. (I was very generous in my time, YMMV) 

Also you need to rep[lace it with what it requires. Do not replace an AGM battery with a Lead Acid etc...

Thank you for all your comments and suggestions Now if I can just figure out what question goes in what forum I won't keep on getting my knuckles wrapped!.

Anyway, in conclusion, in the end, I took the service over price way out. The older I get the more I go for me not bending or running around so much solution.

This was by way of the AA serviceman who came to get the car started. $206 for a battery with more "crank power" fitted and the old one was taken away. This was after he spent the time determining that it was not a "leak" of power in the car but the battery. It even comes with a 3-year warranty so there you go another saga over in the incredibly interesting life of GNFB!

I used AA when I was in this predicament. I shopped around a few places, and found the AA price was maybe $10-15 more than other places (after AA discounts). I found the convenience of someone who comes out and changes the battery, and takes it away to be worth it.

Now if I could buy the battery for less than half the price, then I would go with that route

Ahh thanks for sharing but Hey! In the end, it's only money! could all be dead tomorrow anyway.

Although in some ways it would have been nice to get a bargain price convenience and solution won out.

Yuasa are the go if you want a good battery. I think most of the batteries for sale now (even decent stuff like Hella, Exide etc) have such a high recycled content in them, that they just aren't as good as they used to be. 

I still normally get Hella batteries, but 5 years is about all to expect out of them these days. If you pay 2 - 3x that amount for a Yuasa, will it last 2 - 3 x as long? Maybe, but it's hard to justify that at the time...

Edit - Meant to say Exide, not Century. I think Yuasa and Century are the same thing in NZ?
